Will someone confirm that they are going pure digital now.
Or is there going to be some vinyl cd's released in the
future?

What does everyone think. Bit annoyed I have going records
worth £20 ish that you can download legally for £6.25.
Rendering collection near worthless.

I suppose all the dj's are doing it off laptops now. So
vinyl is less crucial.

as if they'd just stop. maybe reduce? we'll see

I think hardcopy is gonna be worth more, not less, if they
are not going to print it anymore. Besides I think the site
is just a preview of things to come. I don't know shit.

they could probably save a lot by doing select physical
releases, and just put wisp and the other dross on the
download.

i'll still buy oldies and rare-ies, if they're at a bargain,
but digital is the future and its good to have rephlex on
board

how do you come to that conclusion jaser? i can only see
this as being a great thing for collectors, prizes will
rocket on rarities in a few years (hahaha fat chance).

also, this is really fucking great, pushing in the right
direction.

I don't see the problem really. A vinyl release is worth as
much as someone is willing to pay, so your collection is
hardly worthless.

Personally, I have a rather old fashioned attitude, where I
prefer a physical object to a blob of data on a disc.
I'm sure many people feel the same. The vinyl releases will
still hold their value and there is still a market for
them.

All Rephlex have done is given people an alternative. If
you've spent any time on this message board, you will know
that people wanted things like analord on mp3 since they
didn't have a turntable or couldn't get the records, etc.
Now they can get a legitimate mp3, support Rephlex and get
the music they want.

You also have to think about it from the other angle. If
they sold the vinyl at a price as low as the mp3s they would
struggle to cover costs.
If they sold mp3s at the same price as vinyl no one would
buy them.

I'd be upset if they stopped doing vinyl releases, but much
more upset if they went bankrupt and produced no more good
music.

speed / delivery to the customer could be important too
how many months does it take to get vinyls back from
pressing etc - the whole process.

it's complimentary, not a replacement.
why would you viewit as otherwise?

i think they just have a bunch of new download releases to
promote the fact that they have just upped the site.

Yep. I wish it could be "select physical releases" like
Vlari said, but when they choose to release new D'Arcangelo
and new Aleksej Prokurorov for dl only, my guess will be
that Rephlex will be all mp3 from now on.
