Hi,
I have no money for equipment, but have acoustic musical instruments to make music. I will probably record the melodies on the instruments and use eletronic rhythms. What would be the best way to go about this?

Well yeah, but which? I was using Hydrogen, but someone I know who has some knowledge said it was a simplistic piece of shit.
You got any ideas for a better free one- and easy to use, I am a beginner.
Fruity loops?

there are a few drum machine freewares on the net. Give it a google! Unfortunately, i doubt you'll be able to export anything you'll have come up with. So you'll have to figure something out.

i would suggest recording loops of 2 or 4 or 8 bars or whatever, then using sound forge and acid to edit and arrange them into music. you'll probs need a decent mic.
you can just get pirate copies of all this shiz, chiiiill.

This mic looks good- sturdy and quite cheap. And sometimes it even comes with a carry case! =)
Cheers- I might invest in one of these soon!

If you get a Mark 1 version second hand without the UW sampling engine, they're about £500-600 now. That is expensive, but definitely worth it, it's so much more than just a drum machine.

I have just been tinkering on hobnox, which while fun, is something that I found to be quite intimidating, since I spent about half an hour just getting to grips with what did what. And I still don't really understand.
My mate told me that programming music manually is a lot of work and requires a lot of practice/ research/ knowledge e.t.c and now I see that he really wasn't exaggerating.

That really is a lot of money for me- I am student without a job. =(
When I was at home working at M&S, I would have jumped at the chance to buy such items, but now such things seem frivilous to me.
Also, if I bought that I would have to buy a bunch of other stuff- keyboard, MIDI controller, whatnot.
I will take note though for future reference! So thanks. =)

well like everything you need a bit of practice, patience and perseverance, so if you give up you already understood why.
