I'd like to display in the status bar the total duration of
the tracks I select in the playlist. Does anybody know the
syntax ?

You can do this by going to Preferences > Display > Columns
UI > Statusbar/Systray tab, and under the Status bar section
there will be a checkbox that says "Show selected tracks
total length, accurate to X decimal places."

Hum, I'm using foobar 0.9 which has just been released and
can't find what you're tl=alking about. I managed to show
the total length with foobar 0.8.3

Sorry, I should have mentioned I'm still using 0.8.3.

well i haven't tried everything ! i only use it to play
tunes

the only things that i've noticed is that there's no more
">" symbol in front of the tracklength for the playing
track, the equalizer is harder to find and the freedb thingy
doesn't work

so overall it sucks

I'd like to know how to add "Play in foobar" item to context
menu for folders containing media files.

I think it's possible with a special plugin. Try typing
"foobar plugins" in google.

Ok, fount it. To add the "play in foobar2000" and "enqueue
in fobbar2000" options to the right-click menu for folders
save the following text as a file with .reg extension and
double-click it.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.enqueue]

@="&Enqueue in foobar2000"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.enqueue\comma
nd]

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\foobar2000\\foobar2000.exe\" /add
\"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.play]

@="&Play in foobar2000"

What a great player that you have to go through so many
loops to get it work fully.

Fuck that shit. Winamp isn't perfect but it's a lot fucking
simpler.

and this:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.play\command]

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\foobar2000\\foobar2000.exe\" \"%1\""

I really don't know why they removed these handy options
from the default configuration.

this is the whole file that worked for me:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.enqueue]

@="&Enqueue in foobar2000"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.enqueue\comma
nd]

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\foobar2000\\foobar2000.exe\" /add
\"%1\""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.play]

@="&Play in foobar2000"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\foobar2000.play\command]

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\foobar2000\\foobar2000.exe\" \"%1\""

does anybody know how to stop that annoying buffering on
large mp3s?

Combo, I found it! Pretty goddamn easy./ Click on the lower
right corner of the application (where the dBs are
displayed) and choose what you want to see there.

Maybe try the various options in Playback in Preferences
like "Buffer files up to"
