hardware vs. software

hevquip from a crabs carriage on 2001-05-30 21:12 [#00007541]

who thinks which is better? i think with software anyone can
use it and produce songs in five minutes, but you can do
more with it. i prefer hardware because i like the work that
goes into the creative process and it's much fun to
manipulate machinery.

I don't have any technological know-how, so I'm forced to
use software that someone else created in hardware that
someone else created. If I get a unique idea, my only way of
realizing it is to use someone else's software program for
purposes other then what it was intended to do.

I prefer software because in just so fucking poor. =( If i
had money i'd have my whole bedroom full with all kinds of
machinery and hardware and stuff. Hardware is more fun to
play with but i think with software you can make it more
perfect, like manipulate a sound how much you want and make
it sound just the way you want.

Hardware for me, i like to create 'Hands on', there's
nothing better than grabbing, banging, twanging, twisting
things to create a sound, a mouse just seems boring, one
little thing in your hand and thats it. and also i'm not too
fussed on sitting back and letting the tune play itself,
sometimes live errors can create something new.

yeah Phiz, I agree totally, some people dont understand that
principal, I use chaos to help mold my tracks, but when it
comes to a melody Id rather sit and play on one of my synths
than enter notes on the computer.
