and post it here please.
it has come to my attention that no one wants to check
r40f's thread about this great idea he had and i think it's
a really cool thing for everyone to get to know more awesome
music..
so pick songs from your favourite 2004 albums and put them
together..if you have any taste in music it's going to be
probably hard to mix because of variety, but nevermind as
long as the songs are awesome :-)

I'd end up ruining the concept. I would be too tempted to
add tracks that are older than 2004. I would get lost
creating it and i just cant do that. I wouldnt know where to
start. I think i really should make a mix though.

Is there a file size limit on you send it?

there's no need to really mix it, unless you really want to,
but you'll know what i mean when/if you hear what i did :D

yousendit file size limit is 1 gb, so if you do it in 192
kbps should be alright :)

i'm listening to it right now and it's awesome so far... i
just wanted to mention that this is the best tom waits song
i've ever heard! got to check this album out...

VP - definitely make one - it's fun and a little challenging
(because the only theme is the year, so lots of different
styles of music are included).

yeah, that mix was pretty fantastic - only a few tracks i
didn't particularly care for... and most of the tracks were
really good. nice selections! looks like i missed a lot of
good records last year... :D

yeah, 'real gone' is awesome, you should definitely get that
one if you like waits! after listening to that mix i made i
came to conclusion that most of my fav 2004 albums sound
about the same.. awesome :( haha..but seriously, i might
have picked to many songs with cheesy female vocals, but
then again those seem to be my 2004 favourites :)

i should have picked 'with the lights out' but i didn't
really considered it a 2004 album - my bad :) and also
there's one album (milk man) by deerhoof missing but i
couldn't find the cd..appart from that those that i included
are my fav 2004 albums.

i listened to your mix last night already, but i'll comment
on it after i hear it again today.

I would definately do this for more practice if I had any
concept of time... but I don't know what I have that is good
that was released in 2004, so...

I could practice my skills on making a mix if someone
suggested the tracklist and helped me get the mp3s,
though...

yeah, i was going to include a deerhoof track, but i got a

Top Tips for the budding dj:

# I usually mix tracks together where it breaks down. This
can be any place in the track as long as there is "room" for
it.

# Avoid mixing singin/rapping over eachother, it sounds
crap.

# Beatmixing isn't always the answer, you can get a good
result with tracks that fade out and mix in the other. That
way you get good dynamics and builds in your mix.

# Trust your intuition

# Have fun. An bored dj makes a boring mix.

------- # # 2004mix Update # # --------
I've put together an hour of personal favourites, and I'm
recording from my minidisc as we speal/write. It will be
uploaded in a few hours methinks

If it wasn't "2004" only I might make an effort to make one
of my mixes available so that more people can think
they're-ok-I-suppose like the couple of people who've been
brave enough to play them. I can't be bothered to compile
something from last year only. But no-one will be interested
and no-one would like them anyway, so I don't really know
why I'm typing this.
