i remember there was a topic about extremes in art, but i
couldnt find it !?

anyway, here's a performance by one of our "artists"...but
this is not art to me, more like stupidity

he sticked our national symbol to his finger-nail and then
pulled it out and attached it to a sculpture (half finger,
half proteus), quite disgusting imo...

i was watching this on telly and felt seek, i cant imagine
how would it be watching it live
and on top of it all, this wasnt the weirdest performance at
all...

aaargh... i wish i hadn't opened this thread. That picture
makes me feel sick :-s

One of my biggest fears has always been that one day i would
hurt my finger in such a way that the nail would come off...
it seems so painful!

(it happened once to my toe, and that was no picnic either,
but atleast i could hide that in my shoe so i didn't have to
look at it all day :-p Besides it was my smallest toe, and
so a very small nail).

apperantly it was weird to see the performance live cos of
the hole that appeared in his finger after he pulled the
nail off - we couldnt see this on tv

i once broke a nail on my hand, only half of it tho...it
happened about 15 years ago, and it is still visable -
perhaps i should pull the whole thing out and then wait for
it to grow again :)

this nail thing makes my fingers/nails hurt just by looking
at it...

but the general idea of body art is interesting!

"weird to see the performance live cos of the hole that
appeared in his finger
"

I can imagine! That would really creep me out. I have no
desire whatsoever to know what's underneath my fingernails.
I just do not want to know :-p I don't know why that scares
me so much... but it does.

And the pain... my god... the pain... sometimes it happens
to me by accident that something sharp hurts me under one of
my fingernails (in the front, where they connect to your
skin), and it always hurts like nothing else. One of the
most painful wounds i can imagine... brrr.

I probably would have fainted if I was in his live audience
;-)

"perhaps i should pull the whole thing out and then wait
for it to grow again :)
"

why? If it doesn't cause any problems why would you go
through all that?
And even if you do decide to do it, please don't post
any pictures of it ;-)

"If it doesn't cause any problems why would you go

well, cos of art ofcourse :)

im glad i wasnt at that peformance as well...there were
plenty of other weird shit, like some guy drilling a hole
under his knee...really insane

"like some guy drilling a hole under his knee...really

ouch...
Body art is weird. I've also heard of some artist cutting
off one of his fingers with an axe... all for the sake of
art.

Somehow that fingernail-thing still seems like the most
horrible one though ;-)

not sure what i would've picked...i guess i'd go for a nail
pull off - he did it slowly and quite carefuly and he didnt
seem to be in any pain

now if you cut off a finger there isnt much chance it would
grow again :)

Hahaha, that bird made me "lol" :D

But i think the original pics are perfectly jusifiable as
art. If rdj made music from his own screams of pain ripping
off a fingernail there'd be no question. It's all a matter
of how far the artist wants to take his idea... WHY he put
himself through that is a whole other topic. Just cos it
looks foul to people doesn't mean it's not art.

that is a good comparison!
seeing it like that, it is art, tho a painfull one...

i like the painted women, but that painted finger/cut-finger
is just gross..

but i guess technically it could be art.
to each his/her own i suppose.. but ouch..

her eyes (i think it was silicone)...and they filled her
lips i think...that took my breath away
