this track is so fantastic!! check it out if you haven't...
it has this great laid back beat to it, with a fabulous jazz
guitar solo for most of the song... The whole Tourist album
is great, but this song is a standout for me... check it
out!!

It's not a shit band,.. it's just not your thing,..

theres a difference between shit bands and one that people
don't get,.. this is one that people don't get,.. but they
are still a good band,... all the neccessary "good" elements
of music,.. production values,.. and so forth are there,..

people like Peter Gabriel

now THEY are crap,..

horrible production,. horrible sound,. but just pretentious
enough to draw attention to it,.

I feel sorry for people who can't enjoy "good" music,.. and
pitty people who listen to the other mindless shit,.

but hey,.. everyone's enitled to their own opinion,.. it
just so happens that yours is wrong

:)

HA! this is funny! I don't get St.Germain!?

I mean, I agree on the "its not your thing"-thing.. it
certainly isn't.

what is there not to get about St.Germain? its loungy shit!
to me this is exactly mindless shit, sound put on as
a kind of aural wallpaper.

I do agree on Peter Gabriel being shit though :)

It's afe to ssume

I do not agree. although its s l o w l y beginning to dawn
on me that we might have different definitions of "getting
it" in mind.

to you, not getting it seems to be synonimous to not liking
it.

to me, "getting something" is about understanding. in that
way, listening to music has absolutely nothing to do with
"getting it". music is an order of sounds - whether you like
it has purely to do with whether you like what you hear or
not.

I must have a liedown now.

I can't be bothered arguing about it,..

you seem like an alright person and I don't want a stupid
argument to make us hate each other

ermm,... can't help it

by "not getting it" I mean that you don't know what to look
for to get enjoyment out of it,.. because if you did than
obviously you would enjoy it,..

I just think the
DEATH OF MUSIC/TEPID SHIT DOWN MY EAR
statements were a bit harsh,

isn't thinking something shit = not getting it?

if to "get" something means to like it then, i'm
quite happy to say that I don't get n-sync or
whatever.

is it possible to like something and not get it?

personally st. germain doesn't do much to me - i can stand
it though .. wouldn't go out of my way to listen to
it though - so i guess i don't quite get it or something

i'm not meaning to start a big debate bout this .. i
don't think one can entirely qualify liking certain
music over other music, other than saying that one
does .. you may be able to point to certain elements
you particularly like/hate or whatever, but its about the
ensemble or so innit?

lol, your doing to peter gabriel exactly what qrter did to
st germain. i find that post of yours to be amazing humor.

most everyone on this damn board are elitist fuck-faces who
think they are the most intelligent people in the world
because they listen to the most intelligent music in the
world... fucking grow up and let people like the music that
they like... liking a certain type of music does not make
someone "mindless" or whatever crap you're saying... I love
PEter Gabriel, and if you have a problem, or think I'm a
mindless fool who doesn't know good music then kiss my hairy
ass... good music is in the eye of the beholder, just as
beauty in general is...

quit being so snobby about music guys...

I love all types of music from cheesy 80's synth pop music,
to Autechre, to Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, to Peter Gabriel,
to Tears for Fears... rather then isolate myself to one type
of music, or to music that is considered "intelligent", I
listen to everything... and why? Because I like it...

offline The_Funkmaster from St. John's (Canada) on 2002-10-17 20:48 [#00407721]
Points: 16280 Status: Lurker

ok, so that was a bit harsh... but really, some people need
to grow up, and quit being to snobby and elitest when it
comes to music...

I don't isolate myself I listen to all types of "good"
music,..

But i do think that there is a line between good and bad
artists,.. I hate britney Spears's music more than peter
gabriels,.. but I'd say that britney's music is better than
peter gabriels because,.. It is better produced, it has
better ideas in it,.. and It is atually really well
composed,.. I'm personally a fan of Crystal method,.. but I
would still say that they are a crap band,.. their music is
really primitive,....

that's the dfference
Luddovic Navvare is a veteran of electonic and jazz
peter gabriel just tagged along for the ride
"trance is poppy at the moment,.. I might try my hand at
some!"
*pukes

and "steam" is still the worst song ever made

ohh yeah,. and I don't think I'm the most intelligent person
in the world,. just the best looking ;)

funk .. if you think your point of view is so much
better than other peoples (ie. the ones you think
should grow up), then aren't you being
elitist?

it seems by your line of reasoning, one oughtn't
dislike anything!?

not meaning to pick a fight or nothing -

look Funkmaster, I really don't care whether you really like
St.Germain, but just as you can say you really like it, I
can say I really hate it.

no comments on proposed intelligence intended.

over-produced pop crap is bad music, saint germain is not
:)

and nothing wrong with daftpunk either.

what i would like to see is a n'sync or dr bombay poll.

Ok I agree for St Germain but have you heard the last Daft
Punk album. So far from 'homework' , cheesy lyrics, overused
samples, not the faintest innovation. Filtered house sucks.
