"Rebus", the closing track on Hard Normal Daddy always stirs up huge feelings of sadness for me...what song affects you that way?

Wistful, bittersweet, regretful nostalgia. I'm just listening to Endless Summer by Fennesz--much more abstract than Squarepusher but some of the tracks have that quality.

ceri.... gotta agree with ya there. Beep street is pretty melencholic driving sadness and one of my fave SP tracks.....
Tundra IS what i´d play in the artic to amplify the desolation.
Don´t forget "UFO´s over..."... a funeral song if ever there was one....

I remeber when I first started driving and got lost on a desolate industrial park late at night, Beep street always reminds me of that, even though I wasn't listening to it at the time...

Another really sad thing is The Books - Thought for Food. Some of the tracks are heartbreaking in a wonderfully non-maudlin way. And some of it is very funny; so there.
(caveat: that is a link to Pitchfork, and half the time I read their reviews I want to kick their pompous indie asses, but due to the sheer volume of material they review I often come across neat stuff there and nowhere else)
Nick Zammuto is half of this duo. I have this and a couple of his other CDs on order at my local shop. I already snagged all of Thought for Food off slsk but it's really, really worth owning.
