It's good, but I found it to get tiresome about ½-way
through.

I know what you mean, its over descriptive, but thats also
what makes funny.Like 5 pages of him describing his beauty
regime,it can be too much. But it is a very funny book,I
would recommend it.

Yup, I found it a case of The Good points about it
eventually becoming The Bad points :) I had the same problem
with Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray, which I loved
until I encountered PAGE AFTER PAGE of furniture/fashion
descriptions

HeHe,nicely said[the good points also are the bad
points].I`ve never actually read any Oscar Wilde, maybe one
day I`ll get round to it [like alot of things in my life :D
].
You remind me of someone[but I wont say who].:)

Royalty.

I think it's just a shadow... due to the small size required
on here it makes gifs kinda hard to make out sometimes.

By the way, I have this avatar not only cause it's my
favourite book, but also cause the chap in question
(Christian Bale) was born a few miles up the road from me!
Coolies

Hello welsh cunt, hehe, you read it every couple of
months, that cant be healthy.Have you picked up any Patrick
Bateman trates? :D
Saying that though,i might actually read it again--I`ve only
read it once and that was a few years ago,so theres a lot
I`ve forgot.Still, its much better than the film.:)

outside_ninja if I was to read any Oscar Wilde, what would
you recommend first ?
I get paid tomorrow,so I`ll probably pick up a couple of
books.

Everytime I read the book I become Patrick Bateman. My whole
attitude changes, it's quite weird...

But it's just the funniest thing I've ever read. Everytime
he does the banshee thing I crack up....

Hmm I dono - maybe the Picture of Dorian Gray, because,
aside from the sudden influx of description half way
through, it's excellent :)

Jarworski Im sure we`ve all thought like that, but then again

Dostoyevsky - I BECOME Raskolnikov when I read it.

mccabe: hehe :þ

:D
Did you see the programme they made of crime & punishment[it
was on BBC2 a while back],I only seen the first half,but I
was completely shocked[considering how old the book is],when
the woman offers herself to him and he sticks an axe in her
head.Pretty brutal,hehe
I wish I seen the other half, but I was working at the
time:([bastard,bastard,cunt etc.]hehe

I'm afraid I didn't see it1 :( How was it? Gritty and Dark?
Violent?

It was Gritty,Dark,Well made,Superbly acted and that scene
was pretty brutal[as I wasnt expecting it]what got me was
the fear in the woman[screaming etc.]and she lifts up her
skirt in a bid to save her life, but he sticks the axe in her
head anyway.I hope they show it again so I can see it all,I
might actually leave Oscar Wilde and buy this book, thanks
for reminding me cause I thought about buying it after
seeing this.Not what I expected.

It's just about my favourite book -- His just about my
favourite author... After that, read The Idiot, THe House of
the Dead, and The Brothers Karamazov... Dostoyevsky was
actually sentenced to death as a young man, which was
commuted to Hard Labor in a Siberian Penal Camp (The House
of the Dead is loosely based on this).

Yeah,I`ll pick it up tomorrow when I go up to glasgow,I
already knew a bit of history on Dostoyevsky, but nothing of
his work. The only place I think I`ll get the book of thoth
is in tower records[I remember seeing his stuff under the
occult section,makes you laugh doesnt it,hehe].Youre a
fountain of knowledge :)
Do you recommend any philosophy books?I still cant find the
book of five spheres by miyamoto musashi[think thats his
name]glasgow`s pretty limited in the books I like :(

I`ll have a look,but I prefer buying books[adds to the
collection]as I find it easier-and reading off a monitor
hurts my eyes after a while[I dont have a printer either:(
].

I hear you, but I'm running out of room for books!!! My
collection grows by ten like every week.

Plus I don't have a problem with reading on a monitor for
hours... I can put in like over 15 hours a day reading off
this thing... =oD

I didnt get up to Glasgow today, slept in & was working at
3,so had a look in town. They didnt have crime &
punishment[pretty shocking that they wouldnt have such a
classic book]but they had The Brothers Karamazov,so bought
that instead.Looks like it will be quite a hefty read :),but
I think it will be worth it.
