Talib Kweli and Common are really close to him. ecnadniarb already recommended CanOx and CoFlow which are among my fave hip-hop artists if a bit dark for you. Also, Jedi Mind Tricks, Public Enemy, Antipop Consortium for a more footstomping stuff... |

Talib Kwali's album was shite though. Common, you need to hear the stuff he did away from the major labels. Mos Def is good enough. You could also try Copywrite, EARLY Wu-Tang stuff (especially the first album Enter The 36 Chambers and Raekwons - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords - Genius/Gza) and 1 track everyone should own is Damage off ODB's first album. Dark Rza production with Genius and ODB spitting some shit over it...100% classic |
