I just got it today and have listened to the first half so far... wow. I never really bought into all the hype, but this really is some next level shit. The first track is great, and the second kind of seems like a continuation of it, these are my favorite.

another thing I notice is that it's really envoking strange visual images in my brain more than any album has in awhile besides Geogaddi... and they seem to be 'abnormial' images, very weird

track 5 is the most visually stimulating... I picture a back of strange and violant alien animals in a feeding frenzy ripping a human carcass to shreds, and fighting for the remains... anyone else get that?

yeah track 5 (I think) called bine (i think) is an awesome swarm of insects that mutate exponentially into pteradactyls and hammers and back again while right in between 5 dimensions, constantly flipping existence from one to the other.

how do they get away with this- as if they're scamming everybody out of their money by easily making some noise with little thought or effort...

Confield is their 2nd best album (Tri-Repetae is 1st and foremost)...easily their most solid output. None of the lulling that went on in Chiastic Slide...none of the "too clinical" listening of LP5...and the appropiate answer to EP7...
BTW, that's not a bash on those other albums...it's just Confield gets everything just about right in terms of an Autechre album can be: well-programmed, layered and textured, cutting-edge and willing to dare the listener into accepting what Booth and Brown consider their "music"...
All in my IMO...:.)

confield is amazing
best album, followed very closely by chiastic slide
its relaxin to me...
i sleep to it, and zone out
once you can accept to let go of the standard idea of music, it is amazing

Confield is like sitting down and getting blunted with an alien who won't stop talking shit to you.
By that I mean it is good.
