how good are the white stripes
the guitar is classic may the drumming is a bit infantile
but it makes it sound so good
anybody else a fan?

they are ok
not that all

get "the international noise concpiracy" or "the hives"
instead

White Stripes are boring. The chick is one of the worst
drummers I've ever heard (they admit in interviews that she
plays like a little kid and that's the sound they're going
for, but I HATE IT).

If you've been listening to music for a long time, any
guitar based rock (person singing with guitar and rhythm
section) is redundant. I have given up on it. Bands like
the strokes and the vines are ok, but it's all been done
before. There's nothing original about the sound.

Yes. It is very boring.

And it's not like everything I listen to has to be 'out
there' or ground breaking, but god damn -- these bands are
just shit.

I love

the strokes
the white stripes
the vines
the hives

but they cannot compete with Mooney Suzuki or Death Cab For
Cutie I'm so glad this trend started... finally GOOD music!

the guitar

you lot ain't got a fuggen clue, growing up listening to
stock, aitken & dennis waterman with your cd walkmans, wimpy
synths & computer software.

how can you appreciate electronica if you don't also
appreciate raw guitar based music. where's your passion?

most electronic music can be make with a guitar
i can make basic techno melodys with a phase pedal and my
gibson
i can tap out heavey (drum and bass drones) with a
compression pedal
and recreate most of ambeint works II
for it to be something that is out fo date or useless is
bollocks
it hold as much relevane to idm as circuit board with keys

Have ever listened to a good jazz CD? Ha. Yeah, if you only
knew.

I don't like guitar in jazz. For that matter, I don't like
guitar very much, or what is done with guitar at least.

Steve Reich has done some interesting things with guitars,
as Robert Fripp, Ian Williams, and Mike Bandfield. BUt on a
whole, I just find guitar a very boring, instrument.

people don't seem to realize that there is no ultimate music
medium. they are all just that: mediums. if the best way to
express your ideas is through guitar, fine. electronic music
is not better or worse, and it certainly isn't soulless.
guitars and synths are merely tools.
