The Orb - Orbus Terrarum

I so dig this album...:.D

It caught me off guard initially; it was so different from
the previous 2 albums (Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and
U.F. Orb (w00t!!!)). But the more I listened to it, the
more I became entranced by the textures and patterns of the
music. I personally think Valley-Plateau-Oxbow Lakes is the
greatest 28 minutes of Orb ever recorded together!

That my story...what's yours?

i stand corrected on my previous orb comment, but they're
not too popular here and man did cydonia suck.

What previous comments were those?

Yeah, Cydonia was a bad direction and seemed quite devoid of
ideas...some good songs, but otherwise pointless
noodling...

Dr. Alex and company did regain my faith with the Death of
Elphame EP though, so I'm happy...:.)

chance

Ah...Orbvs Terrarvm! A true masterpiece.
As a lot of you already know, I am a massive ORB fan, and
this is my 2nd favourite Orb release.
It even took ME a while to warm up to it. I've come to fully
appreciate its complexity and sophistication, not to mention
the trip-out factor!

oh man, that album is totally amazing..

so many layers it starts to become something physical rather
than sonic.

Slugs! That track used to haunt my stoned day-dreams. Shit i
haven't listened to that LP in 5 years. There was alot to
thi salbum that took a while to sink in. It is definately
not their most digestable piece.

Thank you. Nice to see some people haven't forgotten
classic albums...

I used to scare my neighbors with the shuttle launch sounds
from Ultraworld. In fact, my dorm sounded like a launch site
with the volume way up.

Heheh the astronaut was saying something like, "I have a
beautiful view of earth here..It's absolutely fantastic"
Beep!

The Daleth of Elphane EP is a monster.

nothing beats Adventures beyond the Ultraworld.

FFwD with Fripp and Felhman is a great bedtime album.

i saw them once in Sheffield for a Miners benefit, they
where on before Primal Scream and blew everyone away, the
sound of a helicopter landing and taking off in the middle
of the arena was just too real, amazin.

and i dare anyone to stand in front of a speaker stack while
towers of dub is playing live, orgasmic.

Orb b in u, Orb b out u, Orb b all around u.

Dr Alex and one by Darren Emerson.

it have mixmaster morris on the second half of the Alex
Patterson cd?

Start with The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld. Every
track is great. There's weird stuff going on and then
there's the more commercial stuff like Little Fluffy Clouds
and Perpetual Dawn.

Agreed...Start at the beginning and work your way up.

Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld: Make sure you get the 2
CD album; that's the full, orginal version.

U.F. Orb: There's a 2 CD version; one disc has the full
album, the other disc has remixes of Blue Room (including
the original 40 MINUTE VERSION) as well as Assassin (The
Oasis of Rhythms). Highly Recommended!!!

Skip over Pomme Fritz...

Orbus Terrarum, then Orblivion

Plus the Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond the Call of Duty
Volumes 1 & 2 (Both are 2 CD sets of Orb remixes of other
songs)

If you can find the Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions
album...GET IT! They are terrific remixes of ABTU tunes.

There's a lot of other EPs and remixes out there as well...

Hope this helps and happy hunting!

:.) *thumbs up*

little fluffy clouds is cute but the rest of the orbs work
does not strike me in any way

I actually bought the Ultraworld Excursions before the
original. Then when I got the original, it all made sense.

Hei neetta. Missä päin Suomea Nurmijärvi on?

Yeah!...Ultraworld Excursion is great...has the Cumulonimbus
mix of "Little Fluffy Clouds", which is the best in my ears.
Plus a cool "Perpetual Dawn" remix and two floor-stomping
versions of "Spanish Castles in Space".

Brill! :.D
