Modus Operandi
for hard core DnB only
some people found it boring

Modus Operandi is far superior to most of the other stuff
he's done. Highly recommended. Minotaur & KJZ are my
favorite tracks.

His last album was more deep house than d n' b coz he got
bored with it and the scene. He's now putting d n' b out
under his Special Forces alias. His music is quite distinct
from most d n' b and took me a bit of getting used to. For
me, the title track of Modus Operandi is his finest.

If you can, check out his remix of Therapy?'s 'Loose'. Its
one of my fave d n' b tracks.

Risk vs. Reward for his most tripped out effort. (it
includes Ni ten ichi ryu and Hidden camera ep's)

Just get all three albums Modus Operandi, Form & Function
and Solaris. Solaris isn't shit, just different. If you
listen to it with no preconceptions of it being a
Photek-stylee d n' b album, you'll uncover a few little
gems. Two Sword Technique is also worth digging up, and
Seven Samurai is a choooon!

It was GREAT in the early days, now there's so, so much
better music!

Photek is the Daddy!!!!
Just lie back and listen to Seven Samurai (any mix) and I
swear you can hear the Samurai stealthily creeping around
your room. His beats and appropriate use of various sound fx
are second to none. Just thinking about it makes me wanna
listen to some!

The other track he did for WOXL that's only on the actual CD
soundtrack is awesome too. 'Titan' I believe is it's title.

Im a big fan.
Check out his track "DNA"
Its one of his best , kind of a step back to the Modus sound
but new and improved .The drum programing is mindblowing ,
so precise and sharp.
And on top of all that futuristic sounds ánd beats comes a
beautiful spanish guitar solo.
I highly recomend it. It was on the B side of the "Terminus"
single .

Another great track is Special Forces "something else/the
bleeps tune"
There are two versions of this track.
One is heavier darker and more for the clubbs and the other
(photek remix) have more of those special photek beats , it
reminds me of Ni Ten Ichi Ryo.
And also the Special Forces remix of Inta Warriors "Inta" is
very cool. "inta inta!!!"
And check out "Exocet"
This was a good Photek/Special Forces period.
His latest work is not so good , just the same sounds loops
and vocals he used on solaris arranged into Dnb.
Although "Babylon" is pretty cool.
Check my topic Two New Photek EPs if you want to hear a promo
in real audio. (decent sound quality for being real audio)

Jonesy::That Loose remix is hard to find man!! I have been
wanting to hear that for a long time.

I sort of like modus operandi but it can be boring because
its so mechanical. And his last release, solaris, that was
just shit.

Oh dear.
Photek is one of the oldest and finest jungle producers
around. What's wrong with people?!

Lots of journalist said 'photek opened a way' -- yes, but
very few artist followed it - i mean he is considered as a
pioneer (wich is right) but I don't see which d'n'b artist
made such fine drum programming..... they are all going
hardstep that is.
(exept a few heroes named afx & tom & etc..)

well so, yes I agree with you guys, photek's earlier stuff
is ace.

Alot of dnb producers have been influenced by Photeks sharp
beats programming , Total Science and Teebee for example.
I hear Photek influences all the time when i listen to
different dnb artists.

Damn right Photek is one of the finest d 'n' b producers. I
really enjoyed all his work up to Solaris.

I know its on the B-side to the Therapy? CD single but I got
it on a compilation (not a great one at that). Its more old
skool jungle sounding with the fast snares. I hope you find
it.

I mixed D+B in a club for a while back, and whilst I didn't
play much modus operandi for the dance floor I certainly
regard it as one of his best albums, I don't take to much of
his recent stuff though,
