i'm not kidding, this man is an absolutely brilliant
songwriter. i don't mean his lyrics so much (especially
since he didn't write most of them) but his melodies. listen
to his 70s songs, they're mindblowing. "goodbye yellow brick
road" is probably my favorite song of his. but throughout
his music career he's been a masterful melody writer. i also
think his voice has proven a worthy vessel for his melodies.
i can think of very few people who have such an impressive
and enormous resume of hits.

that whole eminem singing with elton... what was that all

what?

oh hell no !!!!!!!! plesase anything but this... if you are
using sarcasm then i understand if not..... i cannot
disagree more !!!! .......
his music is pure gay pop in its purest form... maybie with
a tinge of rock.... very uninspiring ... dull... bland...
and hopeless... please tell me you are kidding ...please

zeus: elton reached out to eminem cos 1) he's a big fan (he
is also a fan of basement jaxx, moby, groove armada and he
was a major factor in bringing them into the public eye cos
he always talked about them in interviews) and 2) as a gay
man elton wanted to make a point about the closemindedness
of gay and lesbian organizations. if you believe eminem,
eminem didn't know elton was gay until the media started
talking about the upcoming duet. he just liked his music,
that's why he accepted. again, this is em's words on the
subject, not necessarily the truth. i thought it was a
pretty cool duet, but yea - it was something for hype.

elton and his lyricist bernie taupin (spelling on that) are
GREAT.

all you have to do is think how many songs ring bells in
your head to know how influential he's been.

YES some of his stuff is horrible POP....but my personal
favourite song

'Rocket Man' is just brilliant.....and i agree Goodbye
Yellow Brick Road is fantastic. i've always loved 'funeral
for a friend' i'd like that played for me someday.

no.... just don't think it would have had so much air play
and would have been so "inspirational" as some people put
it, if the real meaning had gone out earlyer

the song doesn't inspire me.....it's just a good
tune....makes me think of lots of things not related to the
song at all.

thats what music does sometimes.....takes you
somewhere....thats why i like it.
