sorry anon, not trying to beat you up. i think we've all
been guilty of what you did (though well-intentioned) when
we've been excited about something. did you JUST receive
their VMA award? maybe that's why you're so excited. that's
cool tho, not many people can say they possess one of those.

the make and stuff had already started..but they had the
whole Dr.Sues cat in the hat shtick then..which was kinda
funky..or at least that's what I thought then..The sound was
a lot more electronic..they didnt have a drummer then..it
was all sequenced....i.e they werent a rock/metal band..very
Pretty Hate Machine era NIN

Mixmaster Morris. Not very famous. Curve. ditto. Henry
Rollins. Tattoos.

My mate used to serve Chris Morris booze at a wine shop.
He's quite friendly apparently.

just the other day as me and my grrrl were walking out of
our hotel suite through the courtyard, we walked past Billie
Joe Armstrong. He was with his kid, and wearing sunglasses
(at 9:30 am at the beach?! hello! can you say overcast?),
so i didn't immediately recognize him untill we were passing
him and i looked at the tattoo's on his arm, then i thought
to myself, "OMG! I KNOW THAT GUY!" and i quietly whispered
to her that he was who he is, and she was all like, "oh".

i think the only famous person i've met in person was moby,
but i've gone to the same small-venue concerts with famous
people if you want to count that (i don't).

nice guys; very down to earth.

I talked to Hrvatski when he stayed at a friend of mine's
house after a show. He's nice but kind of weird. Not that
famous, but still kind of neat.

offline titsworth from Washington, DC (United States) on 2002-08-20 18:10 [#00357553]

i was going to talk to the deftones on the presumption that
they'd have a meet and greet session at a festival concert
they played at. i brought this funny '80s catholic church
book called "sex & morality", i was gonna have them sign it.
unfortunately they didn't have a session that day.

how was hrvatski weird? and did he know your friend or was
your friend just a generous fan?

she's such a sweetie! and quite a funny comic.

A couple of the guys that played that night, including
Hrvatski, needed a place to sleep after the show and my
friend, who also played the show, offered to let them stay
at his house.

I went to the show and then afterwards went to go visit one
of my other friends who lives there (it's a big house). We
were making fun of Static X and then in comes Hrvatski with
some other guys and our friend trailing right behind them.

My friend doesn't really care for a lot of his stuff,
especially the drill tracks because he's not really into to
that style. He was just being generous.

offline Clic on 2002-08-20 18:21 [#00357562]

And now that I think about it, it wasn't Kieth that was
weird, it was one of the other guys staying there. I wish I
could remember his name. He and Hrvatski did a duo at the
end of the set, but I had to leave because it was too
fucking loud, even with earplugs in.

it was funny, me and my friend where hanging outside of
berklee, and she walked by... and i was like "holy shit!
thats Jannene Garofolo!" and he was like "no way!" and i was
like "seriously dude, i think thats her!"

so we followed he for 2 blocks. On the way, this girl came
up to us and was like "oh my god, i think thats Jannene
Garofolo!" so now there were 3 people following her.

She was with a guy, and they had stopped on the side walk,
so the girl went over and said something like "hi, your
Jannene Garofolo! What are you doing in town?"

Then I was like "hey, i want to meet her too!" so i went
over, and said, "hi, youre Jannene Garofolo! Do you have a
show here?" (i didnt hear the girl ask this already) and she
was like "yep, i got a show at the 'blahblah(forget the
name), you should come!" and i was like "cool! alright!"

then my friend came up and said the exact same thing, cause
he didnt hear either me or the girl ask, and Jannene was
like "is there in echo in boston? thats 3 in a row now!"

so the point of this story... is we all ended up looking
stupid

but she was nice, and funny about it

but DAMN she was short

like seriously, one of the shortest people ive ever seen

Ive hung out with Abstract Rude, he got booked in my city
and my good friend who makes beats hooked up with him and he
wrote some rhymes while we partyed and then they recorded a
track, He an underground MC from LA. I met Kool keith, he
opened for redhotchillipeppers and foo fighters, after he
opened he went outside the front of the venue his crew was
passing out stickers etc, i just asked him about the tour
with chillipeppers, he doesnt talk much. I dont really like
Korn's music but i met them and partyed with them because
my cousin was a shuttle bus driver at the hotel they were
staying at and he drove them to and from the venue and they
were renting like four or five rooms so he invited my cousin
and joe who also worked there to hang out in some of there
rooms after theyre show.

i've met and had some really nice conversations with a few
'famous' peepz. sometimes backstage, sometimes in the course
of my job.

i've mentioned a few before on this MB, but i've decided
that name dropping can be akin to bragging and so i think
i'll refrain from mentioning them again.

one thing i will say is that i found most to be nice members
of the human race, and some to be real jewels! =0)

btw.....having lunch with saul williams? do share that story
if you can. the Art Institute of Chicago is a GREAT place,
musta been fun meeting someone there, lots to chat about!

Yep. They really are small as well. This was a few years ago
when I was only 5"10 and I towered over them. They're about
the size of that thing from "Don't Look Now". Just need a
red anorak and it's complete.

anon: I like the Prodigy. If you really do know them then I
am quite jealous. Could you get them to give a shout out to
Chris and Skip at the Reading festival please? I would be
overly chuffed with my life if so.
