Best of fan remixes...

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-08-09 13:59 [#00020687]

A quick survey:

Would you pay $12 for a CD compilation of the best fan
remixes from this site?

Plase note: You're not paying for the music, just shipping
and the CD-media itself.

Sound Assassin from Patent Office UK on 2001-08-09 14:05 [#00020694]

No, original music would be better.

geonime from geoworld on 2001-08-09 14:06 [#00020695]

Short of cash, are we? Well... I would just download it and
burn the CD myself, but there's probably some people who
would like that.

rob fragilenine from a warm place on 2001-08-09 14:32 [#00020707]

Yes I would. There are some nice remixes there, and if it
included nice artwork i would be more interested. However,
it's $12 US right? That's about $24 australian... I'll think
about it... although I have no credit card :(. But I could
send cash! heheh

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-08-09 14:40 [#00020710]

Yes - nice artworks on glossy paper... I don't need money -
but many users are still using 56k modems, and this could be
interesting for them and for others.

rob fragilenine from a warm place on 2001-08-09 15:18 [#00020721]

Yeah, I'm stuck with a 56k modem...
A good idea would be to have some custom artworks in the cd
booklet, although that would be costly... but nice.

radiowerkshop from canada on 2001-08-09 18:21 [#00020777]

do you think richard would have a problem with that?

Organ Grinder from my own little fantasy world on 2001-08-09 18:30 [#00020778]

good idea.

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-08-09 18:38 [#00020784]

Richard would probably have a problem with that, I suspect.

It seems Grant tiptoes around here, maybe ask him and beg
him to sprinkle his Rephlex Phairy Dust on you.

Organ Grinder (Glyph Whitey) from my own little fantasy world on 2001-08-09 18:39 [#00020786]

hahaha

geonime from geoworld on 2001-08-09 18:41 [#00020787]

He shouldn't have a problem with it. Phobiazero took the
time and effort to make this site devoted to RDJ, so RDJ
should let him sell this CD to his friends.

The Grey Gentleman from Eugene, Oregon on 2001-08-09 19:01 [#00020791]

Well, that depends...

It's very cool that Phobiazero puts so much time (and money)
into this site, but as far as I know, Richard did not
contract him to do this site.

I think the key issue will be name association. These are
Aphex Twin remixes, would they reflect badly on his music?
Does he get a cut, etc?

People,

I'm not selling the tracks - you only pay for the
CD-media, shipping and the time it takes for me to make your
copy.

Organ Grinder (Glyph Whitey) from my own little fantasy world on 2001-08-09 19:46 [#00020797]

true underground.

djfony -mike b- from helemano, hawaii -djfony.8m.com- on 2001-08-09 20:37 [#00020807]

I'd be interested but I would also like to redo a couple
things with one of my remixes before you did that :D

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-09 23:49 [#00020833]

What about the "Community Vibes Vol. 1" Is that what this
is? Or.. not?

od from perth on 2001-08-10 01:34 [#00020845]

i had two other afx remixes
on my ampcast site
but i cant send em here
bah

"cant someone else do it"

djfony -mike b- from helemano, hawaii -djfony.8m.com- on 2001-08-10 01:39 [#00020847]

you have afx remixes on your ampcast site? dont you know
that is copyright infringement because you can make money
off of those downloads?

od from perth on 2001-08-10 01:47 [#00020848]

nah - you dont get any of the money off ampcast. :P
well i dont anyway

i doubt rich cares.
if he does. well he'll never get ahold of me anyway
i am about 15 people anyway

djfony -mike b- from helemano, hawaii -djfony.8m.com- on 2001-08-10 01:49 [#00020849]

hehe thats cool.. I was just throwing out some 411 :)

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-10 02:05 [#00020853]

i was reading this interview with him in the book
"Electro-shock" which is all about the history of synth
music, but anyways, he was saying how someone could take a
cd of his, put their name on it, and sell it and a wouldn't
care.

now i don't take the litterally, but seeing as he said
something like that, i doubt he'd care about this.

he has his money, he's happy..... this is this site, selling
a cd, to people onthe message board. that's it. i don't see
why that would be a problem. you might as well e-mail warp,
and ask them to ask richard first. then if the answer is no,
then just be sneaky about it
: )

=|R3FL3X|= from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2001-08-10 03:08 [#00020859]

no. I emailed them about the Collaberation idea. for the
COmmunity Vibes Vol. 1, which we are doing, but originially
it was having to do with AFX in some way, and he said hed
rather it didn't come out. Richard James said that.. not
WARP or REPHLEX.

Barrett, Syd from Toronto on 2001-08-10 03:25 [#00020861]

well there you go. be sneaky about it.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-08-10 08:27 [#00020877]

Hmmm...don't you get it?

You're not paying for the music - just shipping +
cd-media + 15minofwork.

Phobiazero from Sweden on 2001-08-10 08:29 [#00020878]

...eg. the music is free... it doesn't differ from having
the remixes on my site - they are way more accessable from
here than ordering a CD. So having the remixes here should
be a bigger problem for Richard.

djfony -mike b- from helemano, hawaii -djfony.8m.com- on 2001-08-10 09:24 [#00020885]
