my friend and i have had this long agreement with each other that Boards of Canada have the most unique sound out of any electronic artist, simply because i haven't heard any other act that was as chilled out with the beats vs melody layout... seriously Plaid is the only other act that comes close, but they have the raw vibe to em that make their music sort of more afx'ish... Boards of Canada just can not be called "rip-offs" of afx or ae or brian eno or whatever the fuck else is out there... they've got their own sound and i love it... how does a duo make such good music? |

In my opinion, If it takes drugs for music to sound good, it must suck, though music that is good usually sounds better when your on something and music that sucks usually sounds worse... |

it's not my opinion but some magazines say they have been influenced by autechre...anyway also afx used sounds taken by the children(arched maid via rdj,polynomial c??)they create a certain mood that i haven't seen in other artists that's true...but i prefer plaid thier music is much more complex and variegated |

BoC are amazing, and are nothing like Aphex Twin, and definitely not like Autechre... they have their own sound, and it's a damn good one!! |

the thing with boc is, imo, that they have a unique sound, but it appears on every cd they make. it all sounds too much alike, which is also rather nice cause it's a great sound that they have. |

from track 9 onwards, you HAVE to hear every beat, sample, synth. if u dont, you arent listening good enough. it's like getting hit by a train, that moment you realise just what these two guys have created. |

He wasn't a member of BOC, he was a schoolfriend who played live with them occasionally, and was given a credit on 'Twoism' because he was playing bass and synths with them for that period. He didn't write any of the BOC material. |

i agree that boc style is somethig unique... it's not conventional.. .it's unbiased but it borrows elements from music from other times and places. I still don't listen to them too much tho |
