does anyone think that autechre have found or lost their
hip hop roots in the past five years?

They are probably thinking of their specific definition of
hiphop... they defined it by blowing your opponents away
sonically and aurally or something... but stated they only
compete with themselves now... they sure as hell succeed in
this.

Frankly to say, I can't see any hiphop in Ae at ALL. Sorry
for my ignorance, but where does this shit come from? Is
there anything in the world FARTHER from hiphop that Ae?
Well, maybe Mozart...

Well, originally hiphop and electro were closely
related(Grandmaster Flash cutting and scratching with
Kraftwerk and James Brown records) Both scenes have growing
further and further apart since then, it's not just
Autechre. I think Autechre have more connection to the
electronic music that existed before hiphop(Kraftwerk) than
with hiphop itself.

Do you think it's possible to FIND your roots? Roots already
ARE when you start doing shit. I think you can only lose
them in case you start crapping around...

I don't consider them hip hop or this or that or whatever,
they're just... Autechre. Incunabula and Amber are their
roots, I guess. And yeah, they've lost them! I want some
less insane stuff, but doesn't seem like it's going to
happen, they're past the point of no return. Which isn't too
bad, I guess. Confield is purdy amazing.

Agreed. I'd also eat more of that sweet melancholic Amber
pie, but _anything_ new with 'ae' mark on it will be bought
by me in a flash...

to me there is evidence of hip-hop influence on all their
albums

today i went to music store looking for gantz graf and they
had autechre in 2 different places, in the dance section was
ep7 and confield, and in pop/rock there was incunabula and
lp5! hehe
