Do you love them, like them or hate them?

Come on now, people, reveal all!!

Personally, I think they're great. They have a stunning
range of sounds!

They are great as in better than chemical brothers and
prodigy and that's all, won't compare them to well AphexTwin

Yeah, thanks gy. I'm glad someone agrees that they're better
than the other shit out there...

Far-East Monkey: FSOL is a british electronica group. FSOL
stands for The Future Sound Of London. Check them out!

I only have ISDN, havent heard much else by future sound of
london. I heard the early music they made they were
pressured by label/manager to make a certain kind of music
that was supposed to have mass appeal, like crappy house,
and then they just started making what they wanted too and
then there albums started getting good.

I didn't now there was an FSOL album called 'ISDN4, but a
friend give me mp3's last year with a band called 'isdn' (no
titles on the mp3s) so maybe it wasn't a band but tracks
from FSOL ?

it could be the album 'ISDN' (there's an early variant of it
which has only some of the same tracks) but there's no FSOL
album known by (even nicknamed) 'ISDN4'

offline neurone from orleans (France) on 2002-08-01 21:46 [#00333957]

it's because I kept the shift key pressed when typing " ' "
I did mean 'ISDN'

.. anyway I got to re-listen to it because I can't remember
how it sounds like. I think it was kind of atmospheric, but
quite poppy, so I don't think it's them.

one of my favorite rappers, common, had considered naming
his new album 'the isness' (either cos he and fsol both find
the word (and it is a real word) interesting or cos com
jacked it from them) although i'm pretty sure he's leaning
more toward the title he thought of originally, 'electric
circus'. i reported it to ross's fsol site and he
put it up.

im realy worried... is their new stuff really like
psychadelic rock?

i like the electronic soundscapes of dead cities!

it's psychedelica, it's not straight-up psychedelic rock. i
don't know, it's kind of the ungodly love child of boards of
canada, pink floyd, jimi hendrix, and nick drake.

live instruments (including sitar and other exotic
instruments) and electronic equipment, it's brilliant. the
official web site has sound clips i think, so does the #1
fan site. here're links to both:

i listened to some of it, and it sounds like... what the
beatles would have sounded like, had they the technology we
have today...

or something

it was way cool from what i heard... dont want to listen to
it all though... cause im convinced to get the cd, and i
like hearing it for the first time on cd!

so whats the deal... are they no longer FSOL? Now theyre
releasing under the name annanymos androgynous or something?

Zeus: they've always had that alternate name but have only
used it once, to release an album full of songs that were
"too different" from the music they put out as the Lifeforms
album. this is only the 2nd time they've used the alternate
name, perhaps because this is only a diversion from their
other material but i don't know for sure. interestingly, the
album IS coming out as being by FSOL in the U.S. (i guess
for name recognition)

but you said "interestingly, the
album IS coming out as being by FSOL in the U.S." so i was
asking if it was only gonna be under FSOL in the US, and AA
in europe?

FSOL have released some of my favorite electronic albums,
like ISDN, Dead Cities and Accelerator. Sometimes their
music sounds a bit dated, as i think lifeforms does, but I'm
looking forward to this new one.
