Anybody else get the game?
We (tess & I) have been playing it for about a week and have
found it fun.....in the short term!
What does everyone else think?
Or do ya all hate RPG's?

i love rpgs...infact will be on the path to making my own,
in the years to come. i havent' heard of this game, but i'm

FF's.

You havern't heard of it? O.O 5 years in the making and one
of the most hyped ROG's in years, and from the makers of
Bladurs Gate 1 & 2 (Bioware). Alrthough if you are more of a
console gamer I guess that explains it..

I love Ultima 7 and 8. Does that count?

I have it, and love it. It is definately the best game
Bioware has put out for the PC, IMO.

RPG's are my favorite type of games, for any platform! if u
ever wanna chat about them let me know :)

BG2 was far superior, it was far more interesting than NWN..
maybe i'm just biased as I have played BG2 several hundred
times now :D

Well, I think that with the even more simplified v3 D&D
rules, along with the far superior graphics, make it much
more enjoyable for initiates to the Forgotten Realms.

BG2 has a slightly better storyline and equal character
depth, IMO, so I'd say its just a matter of opinion which is
better. :)

btw, have you played Icewind Dale?

I have it and the expansion and liked it too, but since
almost every area is frozen the scenary becomes pretty
boring.. still a good game tho.

I do like NWN a lot, but there are 5 chapters and I am on
chapter 3 (just started) and I am already level 20 and you
cannot go above that so my character suddenly feels very
stagnant!
Coz I chose a Ranger, I cannot progress anymore so I kinda
wish I'd chosen a Mage so I could still progress in spells!
**Sigh**
Oh weeelllll......!!!

I love IWD but Tess wasn't too fond as it is more cobat
driven than Story - but I'll let her explain it more
fully......
Sorry Tess 8op

Yeah, I haven't finished it yet, it just didn't grip me as
much as BG2, I'm far happier messing around adding little
mods into BG2 and replaying it :D IWD was too much of a
dungeon crawl for my taste, and your charactor was no-one,
and there were no joinable NPC's. I plan to finish it, and
get IWD2 when it is FINALLY released, but overall they just
aren't as enjoyable.

yeah I feel the same as you, and I'll definately check out
IWD2 because I think it will probably have most of the
problems from the original remedied :)

It should fill you in on IWD, I'm a regular at these MB's
and the people of BIS who are making the game frequent the
board, so any question you want to ask about the game you
can have answered ;) It's been in development for ages, they
seem to have it pretty smooth now, ti should go Gold pretty
soon :)

just scanning the thread...

is this game based on the forgotten realms books? (which
wouldn't surprise me). I've played a few of the old dos ad&d
versions. Isn't baulder's gate ad&d for 2000? beefed up gfx,
story, items, mainly a tek face-lift?

I was more into dragon lance than forgotten realms, and
didnt' really read much of those. A few were great, but i
lost interest (this was years ago, when i was 15 or so [20
now]).

Not really on the books... It's based around the D&D rules
whioch the books stem from and some charactors and places
from the books are mentioned, the City of Neverwinter is
from the books, but the story is a separate cxreation by the
game comopany.

sorry, i should have said, uses the forgotten realms
"universe." not story.

Yes, they (the games) take place in locations in the
forgotten realms, that use ad&d rules (although simplified
so they are easier to understand.)

I was never really a huge fan of the books, but I love the
games. :)
