So i'm in this electronic music course and i was talking
music with my professor today. I couldn't help but sing the
praises of the warp triumverate that i love so much. He
wants me to burn him some copies of 'em for him to have...i
was thinking one of each. Which ones should i give
him?...he's never heard any of them i don't think, but he's
really into squarepusher already.
p.s. i own most releases by each of these three

it's a class at the evergreen state college in oly,
washington...it's called music, computers, and
MIDI...basically we learn how to create music using
computers and midi synths and tons of other cool shit that
the school has

id say:

MHTRTC-cause its widely acclaimed as the best
Richard D James Album- cause its insane programming, which
he should appriciate
Chiastic Slide-cause its more out there then the previous
stuff, but not as hard to grasp as confield

yeah...those are good choices...i was maybe thinking tri
repetae, but maybe not...might be too elementary for him

how 'bout lp5?...it's a little catchier than chiastic slide,
but still has the technical greatness

well, I'd say...

Boc - MHTRTC... because it's their first, and is critically
acclaimed and all that...

Autechre - I'd say Chiastic Slide because as Zeus said, it's
weird, but not too weird... I like it better then Tri
Repetae...

Aphex Twin - If he already likes Squarepusher, why not give
him Drukqs? It's really varied and stuff... but, if not that
then The Richard D. James album is a good one to start
with...

yeah, I was suprised that he wouldnt know any of the big
warp names.

but that sounds like the coolest fuckin class in the world,
I hope to god I go some place that offers a course like
that.

I'd say:
BoC - definately MHTRTC
Afx - either ICBYD or RDJ album
AE - i have no idea because I dont have any of their albums.
;)

yeah, I mean, if you know about electronic music, and know
enough to listen to Squarepusher, how can you not know about
Aphex Twin, Autechre or Boards of Canada... They are like
the big four or electronic music, and if you are in the loop
enough to know about Squarepusher, you should easily have
heard about the rest... but, maybe not... I guess not in
this case...

gotten into them...he definitely knows of them though
