Short Albums - Why, oh why???

At the moment i am well into Chris Clarks album. I must
admit it sat on my floor for about four months before i
picked it up.

It's a wicked album with obvious influences from the obvious
artists, ae, sp and aphex but with his own great original
tracks such as Diesel Roven and Lord of the Dance.

There is lots of so called filler tracks which are good too.
Now the problem i have is that its only 30 mins long. I mean
come on, why bother. There are i'm sure lots of reasons for
this from the eyes of chris clark, but for me it makes no
sense. I am assuming that he has more than 30 mins of
material ever made, and that he's not lazy!

The addition of maybe three or four extra 5 min tracks might
have me hailing this as one of my favourites.

I have this problem with the rdj album. 30 mins long too. I
think if i was sent to a desert island i would have to take
this. IMO its perfect, every track. I was not an aphex fan
in 96 when it came out, though damn it, i wish i had been,
but i can imagine everyone just thought "what the fuck!"

Ive read in interviews that his excuse for this is that he
didnt reckon anyone would be able to hack a full hour of it.
Er.... you what mate, i mean, it's not that mental, in fact
all the strings and clean beats make it for me one of the
easiest listening albums he's made. God what i would do for
more Aphex of that era.

Short albums, why? No excuse in my book.

Well, yes, i do own the ep as well, but it's the principle
if you know what i mean.

Short albums... no excuse!

what bullshit

who cares how long the record is if its good?

Well, i do, and really only when it is good.

My point being that basically it's frustrating and a little
disappointing. This takes nothing from the album. You can't
tell me there isnt an album of which you wish it to be
longer. When i pay 13.99 for an album, and don't dl it,
which i dont do, and its 30 mins, what's wrong with wanting,
ney, expecting a little more?

One of my favourite albums is 'Computer World' Kraftwerk,
It's 26 minutes long and it's perfect!

This happens in all genres. "Reign In Blood" by Slayer is
only 29 minutes long and I think it's the best metal album
ever made, and lots of people agree with me. If something
has to be short to be killer from beginning to end and
maintain a sense of unity, then I think that's better. A
long album full of some truly great tracks and a bunch of
mediocre stuff is very undesirable, IMO

I kinda like the rdj album, and come to daddy being so
short... you can sit down and easily listen to them form
start to finish... however, my rdj album is longer because
it has the girl/boy ep included...
