I'm 25 and going through my first Beatles phase, i'm almost at the point of obsession. So of course I want to get others' opinions of them. So what do you think?
What are some of your favorite Beatles songs?
Albums?

I only like 'Hey Bulldog'.
When I'm pissed.
And not even every time then.
Rest of it I can do without hearing ever again.
But that's just me.

Hey!!! The Beatles! Yeah, I think I've heard of that band...
Sigh. Don't get me started on this band. Jesus H Christ.
These songs are the best ever made, I'll list my faves.
I am the Walrus Strawberry Fields Forever Here Comes the Sun Eleanor Rigby Come Together Tomorrow Never Knows A Day in the Life Good Morning Good Morning (considered one of their weakest songs, but I love it so much for some reason...)
Hey Bulldog Norweigan Wood Julia Helter Skelter Because Something In My Life Let it Be Hey Jude Daytripper Rain We Can Work it Out Sexy Sadie Dear Prudence Birthday Happiness is a Warm Gun Blackbird
I dunno, I could go on and on, I should stop. The point is, unless you own each and every Beatles release, you deserve to have your throat slit. I say this only half jokingly. No... actually, totally serious. All people that don't like the Beatles should die. It's a sign of deeper problems. I want you all dead.

Oh yeah, and I think the White Album is their best, or maybe Abbey Road.
And I left out tons of songs that I meant to list, but I have to fight the urge to list more... must... stop... ack...
I'm well past my Beatles phase and don't listen to them nearly as much, but it was by far my favorite phase, they're the best.

You've still got to get Abbey Road, which is maybe their best... you're in for a treat there.
And I forgot about Glass Onion, that song is amazing!

I've been trying to get a decent copy of Abbey road for sometime now. Are the pre-Rubber Soul albums good?

Yeah, about Glass Onion, I love how it makes references to Strawberry Fields Forever, I am the Walrus and Fool on the Hill. And Revolution 9 just blew me away, I didn't know anyone was making music like that so far back.

Depends. I think a lot of early Beatles tracks are crap, like ''From Me to You'' and ''Love me Do.''
It's like a mixed bag... although there's some weak shit (too many cover songs), there's still some poppy gems like ''I Saw Her Standing There''.
Generally, the early songs THEY wrote were good to great, buts sometimes about 40% of their albums were covers, and they're shit compared to Lennon/McCartney songs.
Please Please Me, Beatles for Sale, With the Beatles, these 3 albums are like 40% covers. Ech. But the songs they wrote on these albums are really good, but just pure pop. Nothing psychadelic.
Now A Hard Day's Night is from 1964, and it's PERFECT, 100% Beatles, and the best pop ever. Just fun song after fun song, but it's all very simple. But effective.
Help has pretty much no cover songs, and it's pretty good. A couple of amazing songs, and a bunch of OK songs, nothing special.
I love their early stuff, although, admittedly, a lot of it is dated and not nearly as good as their later work.
But the GOOD early stuff is GREAT! Ticket to Ride, Hard Day's Night, Things We Said Today, I Saw Her Standing There, No Reply... this stuff is perfect pop, nothing more nothing less.
End post.

I went through a bit of a Beatles phase in my very early teens ... still hold much respect for them - and don't dislike them as such. Just a lot more into current music, and by default don't hardly ever listen to them (occasionally i still do).
Some gems in my opinion:
Tomorrow Never Knows - Revolver Long long long - White Album Across the Universe - Let It Be (Though I think I Prefer the Anthology 2 version)
"the medley especially 'Carry That Weight', 'The End' " off Abbey Road
Plenty of other stuff, I'd recommend you go chronological if you can, not that it matters a whole deal, but they have quite a nice sort of progression.
Pre-Rubber Soul? Mmmmhh... Help is ok, its got "You've got to hide your love away" by Lennon, which could be counted as a gem (above), shows early influence from Bob Dylan etc. But on the whole still a bit "teeny boppy" if you like.
Post Rubber soul, you can basically do a blind purchase - all brilliant!

An interesting thing to note perhaps is that on Allmusic.com, all of their main album releases get 5/5.
Might be a little skewed ..

Nobody wins with me when it comes to debates about the Beatles. For fuck's sake. How can I take somebody that doesn't like the Beatles SERIOUSLY? Fucking joke scumbags of society. Lock them up, I say. Execute them. Rid the world of the anti-Beatles plague.
