that doesn't matter.
IT DOESNT MOVE! the shapes + stuff just change really really fast, and non-smooth like.

yeah, I really loved it....it's totally non-narrative driven, there's no story to follow so I guess that's perhaps where it might not be up everyones street...
Personally, I feel the non-narrative approach suits AEs work extremely well and I wouldn't want it any other way. that's the big failing of the BassCadet/Motion video to my eyes... a huge part of AEs appeal is their 100% abstract approach; you can't really listen to an AE song and say "yeah, XXX is about YYY", you have to kinda supply that info yourself...and I guess that why I find GG so engaging...it keeps that enigmatic quality...
And I've been waiting for years for a video that took the approach GG does..where the visual is massively linked to the audio; Fused is a nice term for it, I guess....as its been a long term project of mine to get something like this together (<- my avatar is tiny, scaled-down part of it...)...& seeing GG has motivated me loads...
I definately think the future of IDM lies in taking it's audio sophistication and DIY ethic into the audio/visual realm & I kinda see GG as big part of that progression...

I felt the same way. I didn't even like the track until I saw the video and then I felt like I did when I first heard LP5 - like someone is pushing the envelope and the capabilities of things. and as you say, the audio and video are so linked that you get the feeling that they are being created from the same data. you notice more things in the audio because of the video and vice versa; it becomes a completely engulfing experience.
and I agree that a huge part of its beauty is its objectivity and the sense that it exists for its own sake and isn't trying to make a statement or a narrative.
I've always felt that what sets this type of music apart from all the other popular modern music is a sense of art and creativity. I agree that it's very possible and very exciting that it could combine with visuals in the future (and who knows, maybe we'll have visual "remixes" too...)
