"For the iPod, Apple lowered prices on the 5GB and 10GB
models ($299, $399), and introduced a 20GB model ($499). The
10GB and 20GB models are 10% thinner, with a solid state
scroll wheel, a door to protect the FireWire port, a remote
control, and a case. The playlist counts, Smart Playlists,
and audible.com integration sync between the iPod and
iTunes. Sound volume check has also been added to the iPod.

Also added to the iPod, in addition to the contacts, is
calendars, synched with iCal, so it can really act as a PDA
for most people. Jobs also announced Windows versions of
iPod, synching with musicmatch and including a FireWire
6-to-4 pin cable."

Too bad you've got to pay the "Apple Tax" with the iPod,
it's a nice piece of hardware. Expect the iPod clones to
start appearing soon, though.

In unrelated news, I just bought a SliMP3 for our
wireless network, this gadget is geek tested and approved.
:-) Can't wait until it arrives so I can decommission an old
laptop that was doing the same thing.

iWant one NOW!
I desperately need a new Mac as well as my 233MHz iMac is
really out-of-date now what with everything Apple releases
now non-OS 9 compatible.
OS X 10.2 looks fucking brilliant. That and a 17" widescreen
iMac with a DVD burner would do nicely thank you.

A mate of mine bought the original iPod. It took
9-and-a-half minutes to fill the 5GB drive. Fast.

nah, I never said they suck...I'm a big fan of the design &
idea...just they are pricey and I find a CD/MP3 player just
as handy for my use...

but I do drool over this sort of stuff...but gonna wait til
prices come right down...
