Content laws in your country?

Candian content is what it's called here. It may depend on
the media form but I believe all radio has to be 25% or 30%
canadian artists (someone correct me if I am wrong).
Television also has this same restriction. Are there content
laws similar to this enfored in your country? If so how
much? And what do ya think of em?

Also do you have a government run radio stations/tv
stations. We got radio, provincial and nation tv aswell.

In Wales we all have to listen to Tom Jones 17.5 hours a
day

We also have to eat leeks with every meal

Punishment for not following these laws is death by man
eating sheep

Yeah, that's how it is up here in the Great White North.
Same with TV, our stations make sure most of their content
is Canadian. I guess that's OK, since we still get all the
American networks, but, uh... Canadian-made music and TV is
not that good... with exceptions, of course. But not many.

We must also live with the fact that the Steriophonics,
Catatonia and Super Furry Animals belong to us

There are exceptions in canda. The real problem is that
there are good canadian actors and whatever else has to do
with film and television but they all go to the states and
work in american tv leaving us with second rate canadian
work becuase the best all went south. I think it is awfull
for tv.

In music it is sorta a toss up for me. We have government
funded radio and tv to promote the culture. Forcing content
on private business like it or not, I think goes against the
charter of rights.

i'm surprised to hear that other governments are restricting
viewing content based on national programming. of course, i
live in america where our major export is pop culture
anyway!
