English people often think it's pronounce "serry".
It's pronounced the same as the english name "Kerry". It's just the Welsh version and can be applied to either gender (mainly male), whereas the english version is mainly applied to females.

One of my teachers names was Ceri, and he had a wierd accent...he left the school following a nervous breakdown six months later. It was quite bad actually, but funny.

I'm not sure that 'Ceri' is mainly a male name in Wales. I know about 15 people called Ceri, one of which is my sister, and only two of them are male.

In my time I've known 6 male Ceris (including myself) and 3 female Ceris.
Up the valleys it is definately more a man's name. Probably the english influence in Cardiff is altering the trend...
