Who here has seen or heard of this show? Im pretty sure
that its only Canadian (because all locations of shooting
are in Canada) but maybe they do the same in America. Its
all ran by Lou Pearlmen or something like that, cant quite
remember, but hes responsible for the creation of things
like N'Sync and such.
Its the 3rd year running now I think (the show) and its just
horrible. What they do, is take thousands of applicants and
screen them over and over and over, basicly until they boil
it down to a certain few and make a boy band out of them or
group like that. "Popstars" is horrible. When you "win" you
get a record deal and all this stuff..... just like NSync!
Holy shit, this is the crap de la crap of the Music
Industry. And, oh my god kids just eat it up. Any thoughts?

flea:. n0pe! Its just sad that you can literally become
somewhat famous in this plastic industry now, overnight and
broadcasted on TV.

yeah, it was started "down under"... there was a little
blurb about it in my marketing book last year... it is a
pretty lame show, but hey, the group Sugar Jones came out of
it, so it ain't all bad...

P.S. that last comment was sarcasm, so keep all your
negative comments to yourself please!! :)

sing together and try to make it along with other
dumb-young-kids....actually one band won ....ummm O-town i
think it was...they made 1 album...I dont really know about
it but thats all the info I have stored in my brain =)

I try to avoid the TV like i would poison. I never heard of
any of those shows until I read this thread (seriously)
But I agree with you reflex, I believe it is trash. I guess
that's why trashy people buy into it...

They had a British version of that show here in the UK, and
one called Pop Idol.

You have to admit, some of the people that auditioned - what
the hell were they thinking!!

The first episodes are funny when they get people to try out
that couldn't sing to save their life and they actually
believe they could become a popstar!!!

They had one girl here in the UK that sang YMCA - it was so
bad.....really bad. She's now in a Pizza Hut advert singing
as she serves the 'judges' pizza!!
