The ftp site hosting the video can handle only a few dl at a
time. If you can't get access to the file, just try a little
later. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I am really glad to hear so many positive
comments. I did this piece for my demo reel, in order to get
more interresting work. I started to direct about 6 months
ago. I'll hope to show you more films soon.

Wow. I am stunned. This video was amazing! How long did
this take you to make, laurentbriet? I love the moths that
are flying about the closet, I'm assuming they are computer
generated. I can't explain all the things that I want to
say through typing, but I hope you are getting the idea.
Did you edit the film too? I'm curious as to what editing
program you used. I'm a bit partial to Adobe, myself, but I
have been hearing some good things on Final Cut. I don't
have a Mac, so I can't compare. I would also like to learn
a bit on how do some computer generated things, i.e. the
moths.

Anyway, The short film is great, keep up the good work.
Hope to see a new masterpiece from you soon.

offline laurentbriet from new york on 2002-07-08 02:57 [#00300880]

thanks. I did it mostly myself (no budget), a few friends
help me so. It's shot HD, edited on final cut pro and the
moth are CGI. We used maya for that. I think fcp is far
supperior to premiere.

Very well done!

I'm a photography major, but I am interested in doing video.
I work on Finalcut Pro and with Protools. My college gives
me access to all of this and a Canon XL1. How did you get
access to HD? The quality is so nice. It really works well
in low lighting. The video is edited well to the music. I
can't wait to see more.

offline Diao from Olathe (United States) on 2002-07-08 03:48 [#00300898]

What is maya? Is it something I could figure out by
fiddling with it?

And what is HD? I'm still catching up on alot of film
lingo. I've only done editing, and only that though
Premiere and a little of After Effects. For video editing,
is a Mac pretty much superior all around? I have a PC, 233
mHz, 128 megs RAM, 8 gig HD, 40 gig HD, and a Pinnacle DC
10+ capture card. As far as capture cards go, I believe
this sucker was top of the line when I got it (for home
cards, that is).

to the question how did I had access to HD, well I rented
it. But those guys gave me a sweet deal (thanks paul)

HD, stands for High Definition. It's what lucas used to
shoot starwars.

Maya is a 3d software. Check www.aw.sgi.com

for the Mac/PC question. I prefer to use a mac. It's less of
a pain in the ass.

Voila !

"for the Mac/PC question. I prefer to use a mac. It's less

Haha, nice. I'll go to my friends and give it a go.

As for High Definition, I had no clue it was widely
available for recording purposes. I knew what it meant, I
just thought it was a different meaning since it was for
filming. Sounds like you have things going for you! Having
professional filming equipment, and all.

I'm checking out this Maya, BTW... I wish there was some
sort of DV or film editing message board for me to post on.

Maya, only to realize that his processor sucks, and he needs
a new computer! Fuck.

Maya is very resource intensive. I dont think its something
you could learn by fiddling with it. It very powerfull
though, once you figure it out.

Diao, maya isn't all that hard. It's for sure a powerful
package. Like everything else, if you are interested by it,
you'll figured it out.
Thanks zeus !
