this is really wierd...

i bought some cds from Virgin megastore, and they gave me a
free sampler cd.

Its all shit pop/rock/rap

but the last song is 1969 by BoC

its so wierd... howd they get on a sampler cd... a
mainstream one at that?!?!

Geogaddi tracks popping up in lots of new compilations, I
saw Julie and Candy on a new ambient compilation at the
record store the other day.... everyone's catching Boc fever
:)

i'm surprised they let them do it.
they always moan that they are over-exposed. :-(

disappointed.

Maybe BoC is getting mainstream...

but i mean... its on with mainstream music...

when people go to virgin and buy records like britnet spears
and stuff, they will get this sampler cd, and will hear BoC

its fucked up

Kid for Today is on another chill-out mix... there were even
advertisements for it on TV *gasp*

what's to be disappointed about? They want their music to
be heard by new people, don't they? In my opinion it's a
good thing, more money for boc, more music producing
capabities (hence the new ep and lp due out in the next
year)

i dont want some moron getting into them cause they are the
next "cool" thing, and not really appriciating them

man, if Boards of Canada ever became pop, I don't think I'd
complain... I'd rather here and see that on the radio and tv
then the pop crap that's on there now...

by pop I just mean popular ok... :)

but i do agree that its good they are getting more money.

they didnt compromise thier music to make money... they are
making a profit from thier vision.

as a musician who makes IDM, which is NOT a money making
genre... I understand it would suck to have to work at
mcdonalds or something, because your records didnt sell
enough to live off of, even if you where really popular in
the IDM scene... so im glad they are getting paid

special... like a hidden treasure

sounds... :)

speaking of seeing boc on tv, whats the word on the Boc dvd?
I know they used to make all types of trippy nature films
with their music as soundtracks, but when are we gonna get
to see some of it?!

Other Music (They hosted the Rephlex party)
15 East 4th St. 10003

Throb (bought Geogaddi here 12")
211 E.14 ST. NY. NY. 10003, 212.533.BEAT 12-9PM

Kim's
6 Saint Mark's Pl.

Etherea Records (Bought Samurai Math Beats Here, & Amber)
66 Avenue A

For Hip Hop:
Fat Beats
406 6th Ave. (at 8th St.)

Didn't mean to snap before cuz I know you don't know, its
just that Virgin is a horrible place, and definately does
not have a good selection of electronic music (try
buying astrobotnia pt.2 there). Virgin is the StarBucks of
music stores, don't support them while they try to drown out
downtown music.

No, records and cds! I wouldn't have mentioned them
otherwise. (I don't think there are any stores anywhere
that sell records and not CDs anymore!)

You could even call first and ask, trust me they will have a
better braindance section than Virgin.

I don't just boycott Virgin because they are a giant company
or any of that communist bullshit, its because they offer a
worse service yet continue to grow and grow and knock
everyone else out because of the amount of capital available
for them to put in. Like America Online.

Actually Virgin are pretty good here in Liverpool, decent
vinyl section. HMV are better though, plus they had all the
Warp catalogue on special off last year for £5 a CD :)

*teehee, Zeus said ''virgin'', heh...

All we have here is Musicworld and Radioland. Total shit. We
had Sam the Record Man, and it closed.

I doubt they have a single braindance/warp record on vinyl
(if they have any vinyl at all) at the virgin here, you are
lucky. Plus you guys have Rough Trade Shops and other good
record stores.
