About transphobia, how it's being presented today by people
like JK Rowling. On its intersection with feminism, in so
far it is there (not really). And about the evil that is
centrism (boo).

Also there's a lot from radical feminist Andrea Dworkin,
famous for being a 'scary' feminist, that said penetration
is always violence, among other things. This has to be
something culture war connaisseurs like fleetmouse have to
enjoy.

This video is just a quicky for miss Points: she's working
on a real essay (more philosophy and history heavy), but I
guess she just had to respond, being in the podcast from
that ex-Westboro Baptist church follower.

And here's a critical comment from Reddit's BreadTube, which
I do think does hold some water (the video is still good,
though):
At the end of the day I can't cosign this video suggesting
that TERFS are partially correct in their criticisms by
agreeing with them that the main reason people dislike Anita
Bryant, JK Rowling, Hillary Clinton & Posie Parker is
because of widespread societal misogyny.

I'll gladly say that's a factor, since it can never be
dismissed. But this is the first time I've ever watched a
Contrapoints video and came away with such a jarring
awareness that I'm dealing with the opinions of a
comfortable white liberal woman and not a socialist.

Things get even more bizarre when she suggests we should
resist the impulse to see TERFS as legitimate members of the
right-wing and instead as duped "handmaidens" of patriarchy
who we should ignore rather than confront. So the response
to JK rowling being the David Duke of transphobia is that we
should all.... block her on twitter?!?

I've never had to consume a Contra video in this way, its
like i'm trying to eat only the the good bits of a half
mushy apple.

Since the historical appearance of the capitalist mode of
production, the appropriation by society of all the means of
production has often been dreamed of, more or less vaguely,
by individuals, as well as by sects, as the ideal of the
future. But it could become possible, could become a
historical necessity, only when the actual conditions for
its realization were there. Like every other social advance,
it becomes practicable, not by men understanding that the
existence of classes is in contradiction to justice,
equality, etc., not by the mere willingness to abolish these
classes, but by virtue of certain new economic conditions.
The separation of society into an exploiting and an
exploited class, a ruling and an oppressed class, was the
necessary consequences of the deficient and restricted
development of production in former times. So long as the
total social labor only yields a produce which but slightly
exceeds that barely necessary for the existence of all; so
long, therefore, as labor engages all or almost all the time
of the great majority of the members of society — so long,
of necessity, this society is divided into classes. Side by
side with the great majority, exclusively bond slaves to
labor, arises a class freed from directly productive labor,
which looks after the general affairs of society: the
direction of labor, State business, law, science, art, etc.
It is, therefore, the law of division of labor that lies at
the basis of the division into classes. But this does not
prevent this division into classes from being carried out by
means of violence and robbery, trickery and fraud. it does
not prevent the ruling class, once having the upper hand,
from consolidating its power at the expense of the
working-class, from turning its social leadership into an
intensified exploitation of the masses.

But if, upon this showing, division into classes has a
certain historical justification, it has this only for a
given period, only under given social conditions. It was
based upon the insufficiency of production. It will be swept
away by the complete development of modern productive
forces. And, in fact, the abolition of classes in society
presupposes a degree of historical evolution at which the
existence, not simply of this or that particular ruling
class, but of any ruling class at all, and, therefore, the
existence of class distinction itself, has become an
obsolete anachronism. It presupposes, therefore, the
development of production carried out to a degree at which
appropriation of the means of production and of the
products, and, with this, of political domination, of the
monopoly of culture, and of intellectual leadership by a
particular class of society, has become not only superfluous
but economically, politically, intellectually, a hindrance
to development.

This point is now reached. Their political and intellectual
bankruptcy is scarcely any longer a secret to the
bourgeoisie themselves. Their economic bankruptcy recurs
regularly every 10 years. In every crisis, society is
suffocated beneath the weight of its own productive forces
and products, which it cannot use, and stands helpless,
face-to-face with the absurd contradiction that the
producers have nothing to consume, because consumers are
wanting. The expansive force of the means of production
bursts the bonds that the capitalist mode of production had
imposed upon them. Their deliverance from these bonds is the
one precondition for an unbroken, constantly-accelerated
development of the productive forces, and therewith for a
practically unlimited increase of production itself. Nor is
this all. The socialized appropriation of the means of
production does away, not only with the present artificial
restrictions upon production, but also with the positive
waste and devastation of productive forces and products that
are at the present time the inevitable concomitants of
production, and that reach their height in the crises.
Further, it sets free for the community at large a mass of
means of production and of products, by doing away with the
senseless extravagance of the ruling classes of today, and
their political representatives. The possibility of securing
for every member of society, by means of socialized
production, an existence not only fully sufficient
materially, and becoming day-by-day more full, but an
existence guaranteeing to all the free development and
exercise of their physical and mental faculties — this
possibility is now, for the first time, here, but it is
here.

really it's too complicated for me

that, in high school, there was a dungeons and dragons
campaign that went for over two years. the DM was a
machiavellian genius that, in retrospect, spent time
actually thinking about everyone's individual personalities
in order to determine what to throw at us next week. that we
weren't all the same year; it went past graduation, but at a
certain point...yeah, we're all going to spin off now. and
the DM set it up to effectively... we had a chance, but no,
your characters are essentially all imprisoned in a gem for
eternity. we failed. imprisoned. theoretically could be
microwaved back. but there were also some personal touches
in it all...

few years later, DM is the first transgender person i knew
and very patiently answered my questions. she went to iraq
and got shot at because she never felt comfortable being
male and it was when the bombs were flying over that she
realized she really wasn't happy with her life. questions
about the, well, technical details. and since then, it has
been like: i have an understanding of this now, and i am
fine with it. among the cohort, i think i'm generally
appreciated for how little i notice it's going on at all.

in the future it will become easier and easier to change
your sex. biology is one of the more advanced sciences. i
reckon they could even change your chromosomes and not need
the operations any more. men would be able to change into
women and have babies, women would be able to have a proper
willy and balls. or whatever. i saw an image the other day
of an american police notice asking people to call the
police if they suspect someone of being transgender. there's
absolutely no need to oppress people for being people.
there's no biological reason why people can't change sex.

the geezer who made father ted got obsessed with the
transgender topic so much that it destroyed his career. just
look at what putin supports and do the opposite

that's a good story

umbroman i guess this all is more about cultural things and
not what's medically possible. and it comes down to some
people wanting to control others people's lives and even
bodies.

and that ties in with the economic/financial oppression
Engels is talking about, via Tony Danza

economic/financial oppression, or just society made of
classes, which in itself is oppression

basically she tone polices her, finding some of her stuff to
radical (also in this section the woman that shot andy
warhol is mentioned), but she says dworkin writes awesomely
and she uses her writing to make points about trans
exclusionary radical feminists

i judge people by appearances and i can't take the
judgements & words of a man in a dress seriously,
particularly if that man is going to try to gaslight me into
believing he is a woman and that he will use society, the
state, and the establishment to bully & harass individuals
into believing it as well. you might even be one of his very
own ideological flying monkeys willing to guilt/shame/harass
me on his behalf for not believing he is a woman.
