Saw a rapper in donbass, who fought in the seperatist
militia in a 2015 report about the conflict. Donbass is
quite the badass name itself. Havent found a real
understanding for their strife to independence. The report
already was past explaining it and focused on people living
in that area.

Oh yes, why would ethnic Russians in Donbass want
independence. Might have something to do with the Ukrainians
wanting to genocide them perhaps.

Bogdan Boutkevitch: Ok, you ask me “How can this be
happening?” Well, it happens because Donbass, in general,
is not simply a region in a very depressed condition, it has
got a whole number of problems, the biggest of which is that
it is severely overpopulated with people nobody has any use
for. Trust me I know perfectly well what I am saying.

If we take, for example, just the Donetsk oblast, there are
approximately 4 million inhabitants, at least 1.5 million of
which are superfluous. That’s what I mean: we don’t need
to [try to] “understand” Donbass, we need to understand
Ukrainian national interests.

Donbass must be exploited as a resource, which it is. I
don’t claim to have a quick solution recipe, but the most
important thing that must be done – no matter how cruel it
may sound – is that there is a certain category of people
that must be exterminated.

yeah i get it's more complicated than "Russia Bad Ukraine
Good", there's a ton of little republics only recognized by
russia that want to rejoin the motherland, but a 40 mile
tank column rolling on the capital, starving cities into
submission, widespread hostage taking - these are a kind of
statement of intent. even if they have melted out into the
surroundings when they realised, oops, we might not be seen
as liberators here

Belb it's the Ukrainians taking civilian hostages and using
them as human shields and propaganda. The Russian ambassador
to the UN was commenting about this a week ago.

They're doing this in Mariupol, a stronghold of Ukrainian
fascist militantss with a majority ethnic Russian
population. This is from the 13th.

No one gives a fuck about the people! Hillary wants to
turn Ukraine into a new Afghanistan to bleed Russia! It's so fucking blatant.

Everyone is getting played again and it makes me SICK.

I see. Thats a clear and awful statement. What have they
specifically done in donbass to ethnic russians? Id really
like to know more. Have there been actual shootings or
executions? Usually a genocide doesnt go unnoticed easily.
And what have other countries done to put an end to this?
There are a lot of regions wanting independence because they
feel culturally unrelated and financially exploited, by
their government, but sadly havent seen that going well
anywhere really.

Shelling in Donbass by Ukrainians has killed 14,000 ethnic
Russians, including children, since 2014, but this wasn't
important enough for Western media to pay much attention to.
Or any attention? I sure didn't hear about it.

I wouldn't be so sure about the ukraines hostage scenario.
Also there is a lot of international media present in
ukraine. I cant believe news would be so onesided. Agree
though that its horrible to let others die in the
superpowers fight over power. Ill check the links.

I heard about this. Who was there first? Armed seperatists
or state army? Afaik the region voted out of ukraine, but i
dont know a country that simply accepted that. So eho
started to fight?

Yeah ive seen people live in cellars during their fight for
independence. Wondering now how did it get this far. And i
know this war has had immense casualties.

i heard this on the (supposedly impartial yet more and more
right-leaning) bbc world service - granted i don't speak
ukrainian so the translation could be bullshit but she
talked about russian-speaking men in civilian clothes
herding families onto buses then driving them to the
frontlines as hostages. i think both sides are using psyop
manuals and media manipulation, i mean why wouldn't you

anyone to play fair in war.

Not much to gain for ukraine playing dirty like that though.
Might lose public support.

According to Wikipedia militant seperatists groups took over
federal buildings in 2014. Doesnt sound very rightful to me.
More like what happens in a coup d'etat.

To me it sounds a fitting prerequisite for Russia to
legitimize its invasion.

It's very rude for ethnic Russians to resist getting
genocided by literal Nazis! They should be more polite, in a
rules based international order that modestly looks the
other way while it happens.

Ukraine on Fire (2016)

Sorry for linking to this dopey alt video site, but the copy
on youtube makes you sign in, confirm your age and click
through multiple warnings. Almost as though someone doesn't
want you to watch it.

cant get the video to play.

where is this genocide before the militant seperatist move
in 2014?
in a rapport about the history of the conflict the only
thing i found is the burning of russian books by ukranian
neofascists. hardly justifies a militant uprising, but i
havent read all about the ukraine, yet.

reading into a more detailed history of the ukraine on
wikipedia year by year now. ok its been a constant struggle
in that region including the krim. however i see no federal
violence as of yet coming from kiew until the seperatist
military move from 2014 after the end of Janukowytsch´s pro
russian government. where on the other hand many peaceful
protesters were killed.

so to be clear what you are talking about. you say the
ukranian army committed genocide during its fight against
the prorussian seperatists?
that view may be understandable if you grew up in that
warzone, but to me it looked like they grabbed a gun first
and from reports (at least of 2015) they exchanged their
wounded soldiers too. no genocide here. doesnt mean i dont
see this as a massive humane catastrophe. dont get me wrong.
this war probabbly could have ended years ago if it were not
for both russian and western interests.

by all means all i see is potential for the end of all
fighting by letting donbass be a russian protected seperate
state and a western supported ukraine, as i suggested
earlier.
