at first, it was amazing to be able to just order pizza on a website, because it allowed me to dodge my social anxiety. then i got over a bunch of that, and i came to value calling up a place and paying cash. you can be clear about things. you can get a time estimate from a guy at the phone bank instead of a computer estimate. then, recently, there's this trend where you input the tip in advance when you pay by credit card. before, the pizza would arrive, and you'd sign a slip with the tip amount. now, though, it's like, radio buttons, would you like to tip 5% 10% 15% and i'm like: you haven't even delivered anything yet. i was briefly roommates with a guy who delivered pizza for a living (ouch, yes) and he confirmed my suspicions: drivers look at who has tipped the most in advance, and drive there first, even if it makes the others take way longer. i think it was someone on here who pointed out that you can rescind tips on grubhub after the fact, and that people were using that as a hack to get their food somewhat quasi-warm -- grubhub, uber eats, what shit. but that's another thred anyways, since covid, it's been difficult. i've just moved; i pick the nearest pizza place and ring it up. cash, what? uhhh ok the driver leaves the pizza on my front steps and is backing out of the driveway when i tear out being all: wait, stop hey man. you didn't get the money for the pizza i tried another place tonight, and they were better. when ordering via phone, the cash thing did cause a bit of a pause/hangup, but then it got here in less than 30minutes and i tipped 30% first pizza place was better, but the buffalo tenders the second place has are mint. i was working out while waiting for the pizza and my body was very happy for the protein, thank you for [not] reading my thred |

i had enough trouble working out what was 'compulsory' tipping and what was acutal tipping and wotnot when i visited Americky as it was... i think i did end up probably tipping about 30% cos it was on the bill anyway + i'd give a bit in cash too... fuck knows. Yeah American food is fucking mental... genuine sugar/fat rushes with every mouthful...brilliant!! |

i think that tips that are on the bill are not actual tips... & i find it really weird that anyone thinks they are. |

yes, tipping is certainly cultural in israel the waitress was extremely confused when i asked where the tip was on the receipt i was signing. later, i asked my handlers about it, and apparently, no, they don't tip there, because "they pay the waiters enough." other things like: when you ask for coca-cola, they will not put ice in it, you have to ask for ice, and the reason for this is to ensure you got what you paid for and not a glass of 2/3 ice. i actually kind of respect their system, overall, with the exception of the fact that tips provide a direct economic motivator for better service. also it happens that they're told to pool any tips given in person then share them out this is actually a very kind reason to pay cash. if they have to divvy it up, they can quietly pocket some of it... and, even if they don't, you don't have to declare cash tips come tax time, little extra in the driver's pocket |

for the past decade i had a strong belief ordering pizza is a sacrilege to italian food, because a traditional (thin) pizza cannot be delivered without tasting like recycling paper. at least its quite a challenge i havent had any place achieve in germany yet. not even the sicilian place that only delivers one place at a time and is three blocks away. now a fast food pizza with lots of thick dough and excessive cheese certainly handles the transportation a little better and may also be called a pizza. not what i want though. marco. whats pizza delivery in italy like? or do you just step out the door? |

Earlier this year i started eating Low-Carb/Keto. What can i tell you guys, i lost almost 15Kg/33 pounds. You see, after this exciting discovery, that food makes you fat, i wouldn't eat pizza again. Why would you pay to ruin your health? Lol, i just don't get it |

maybe wasn't so wrong. maybe antidepressants take weeks to work because the impact gene expression, influencing the development of cells involving serotonin, dopamine, all that good shit. and also explains why people who have been on such drugs show evidence of permanent brain changes. your dna is your dna, but gene expression is influenced by the environment, the drugs you're on, etc. thus adding a layer on top of dna to who you are, even before you get to the level of consciousness and life experience |
