This thread is for the synthetical syntheesisists, what few may remain in the Xiltch. There are so many options in the past 6-7 years with new stuff coming out all the time. In moogland, the new Matriarch looks and sounds great but has that steep Moog price tag. I was just listening to demos of the Waldorf Pulse 2, which seems to fly under the radar of most people but has some neat sounds under the hood. In monosynths I'm mainly interested in eurorack modular now, which is a rabbithole that could probably do with its own thread. Plus there's that whole "Aphex Twin is now partnering with Korg and Novation to co-develop things"...thing. Interested what you all make of that... What are you playing around on right now? What gear is catching your eye? Or do you prefer software? What's your jam? |

i have been jamming out on my microbrute today because i like the step sequencer and i got an earthquaker devices avalanche run delay pedal recently that i've been running it through. after rearranging my studio, the cable for my ms-20 mini is too short to run to my mixer and my headphones are shitty, so i haven't played it much recently even though it's probably my favorite synth. i think a behringer crave will be my next purchase; might replace my make noise 0-coast with it because i'm trying to keep my pieces of gear down to a reasonable number. i was considering an ensoniq vfx listed on craigslist currently for it's wavetable synthesis, but i think i can go without a full-size synth. i will probably be ordering a bastl kastle over the next few weeks tho. mostly focused on finishing up a few old songs this weekend, so not much noodling around at the moment. |

i wasn't too partial to the arturia microfreak at first, but i've been watching some videos on it lately and i guess they started shipping recently and i could possibly replace my microbrute with it. maybe once it's in the hands of some more people and more videos come out, i'll consider it. |

I recently purchased: An Octatrack A Yamaha Rm1x (in good shape) and a TX81Z rack. I got away from Ableton Live, mostly using IOS apps to sequence and bounce around tracks. |

i was using my 2010 macbook pro and ableton for awhile but in ~2014 the graphics card on the laptop completely shat its trousers and pretty much KO-d the laptop instantly. being apple and the graphics card being so tied to the mother board and needing 'expert level repairs', i never bothered fixing it up or getting it replaced, and opted to try going FULL DAW-LESS for music making. got a mixer, patchbay, cables and cables, octatrack for sequencing, synths and synths. was fun to jam on but also hard to compose on. now i'm using ableton again, as a master clock to trigger the octatrack, with gear going directly into a patchbay/normalized and being routed directly into audio interface without additional patching. having a DAW to flesh ideas out and arrange songs has been tremendously good and i don't think i want to go Full dawless ever again. what's also good is, taking what i learnt from the DAWless setup and being able to apply that more minimalist thinking to my arrangements now. Ableton also has MAX4Live MIDI Lfo which is my new favourite thing ever. just making very mild automations triggering things slowly without me needing to do any programming or extensive thinking. as for what synths i'm using atm, a lot of QY700 being sequenced externally :-) |

no but it really has a big impact on how i work with Syntezisers. i can now, for example... multitrack the same instrument instead of needing to have multiple synths doing each role live. it's mind blowing. |

i have a pc now, no laptop ;-; i *want* a laptop but they expensive.. or, affordable laptops all have mixed reviews all over the place and always have reviews saying "the trackpad stopped working after 2 weeks, get what you pay for i guess". I have moog sub37, korg monologue, novation peak. Also have blofeld, micromonsta, preenfm2, but can't find room for them atm so they're sitting in time out. Had a tx81z but sold it, had an sh101 but sold it. Also have a digitone which i use atm exclusively for midi filtering, and once i find a midi solution there for what i'm needing, i plan on selling that one too cos i don't really like or use it much. |

i was so sad to sell off my sh101 in 2014. that is top on my want-bank list. i liked to joke i was one of the top 100 sh101 players in massachusetts, because there are probably about 73 contenders |

haha. i love the sound of the sh101 but the inconveniences of it being old and needing to be tuned up got annoying for me. also, putting in CV/gate cables killing the keyboard was annoying too. can get bass sounds from moog synth just fine. but yes. the sh101 is very good and still better i think :-) |

I have a matrix brute (first synth), which I dearly love. Just got a grandmother, semi modular. I can twiddle knobs for hours. I fear I am going to head into the abyss of modular/euro rack. Worse things happened I guess |

i’m no expert but it seems fine on my end. ableton as master, midi out from focusrite audio interface into octatrack, octatrack or ableton for sequencing. i haven’t really done tests to say it’s “rock solid”, but it sounds fine and i’ve never has issues. it’s handy too for i can hit record on ableton and record parts totally in sync. |

Been playing with a roland d110 and atari ste recently. The d110 has a mostly shitty rompler section and a pretty sweet 8 part multitimbral polysynth section along with inbuilt drum sounds. |

I used to have 3 sh101s. I got the last two out of my bitcoin money. I sold one last christmas to get a korg pe 1000 . I'd like to get the 1000 midified but it's hard to find a qualified person. |
