I think as a rough rule, the higher pitch and/or faster
melody notes are, the more annoying they become over many
repetitions. Even though modplug tracker is cheesy, it's
great for quickly 'drawing' something directly from brain to
computer data, pretty simply and intuitively (I change the
key input so there are no black 'in between' piano keys, it
just goes c/d/e/f/g/a/b (next octave) mapped to letter q and
up and z and up for notes below. Open the shitty "gm.dls"
folder at left and drag the shitty "piano 3" etc shit sounds
to samples, then you can quickly tinker with melodies
without a newfangled 747 cockpit like fruityloops and its
tangled web of deceptively non free plugins cramping your
brain2computer bandwidth or something.

so you find it annoying then? I must say I didn't find as
much satisfaction finishing this one as others I completed
recently, but I wanted to do something faster and less
melodic just for the sake of it, maybe I over did it. I do
like it myself, but felt I was not enjoying the end product
as much as I did others due to burn out or something like
that.

most of my stuff is uses minor or phrygian modes so I find
it convenient pressing my laptop key a for c s for d e for
eb f for f g for g h for a u for bb k for c (up an
octave). I work on reason.

mayor mode sounds too happy for me most of the time so I
rarely use it.

It sounds good in my opinion, but I guess 3 minutes worth, 8
becomes repetitive, make whatever you want, who cares what I
think. It does switch between the slower melody and the
faster one though.

no worries, this exchange helped me find out why I wasn't
satisfied with the damn thing I worked so much on. which was
the point of posting it here (and asking for feedback) after
all

i reworked it and here it is:
untitled 6 (xlt radio edit)

I'm much more pleased now, I'd dare say, so thanks a lot

I would say people's opinions are the last thing you should
take into consideration when making music, unless you're
making music for people and not yourself? That's my
feedback.
