Homeless people and beggars

How often do you give? I used to give when I was younger
but now I don't. Mostly because they're high on spice.
Begging is getting out of control.

Here we have community help. So I never give to the
homeless: doing so will only keep them away from real
durable help.

I don't give them anything. Too many professionals. Easter
Europeans see us as fucking mugs.

Eastern* Eastern Europeans see us as mugs, and if anything,
are more to blame for Brexit than any doddery old Daily Mail
reader.

outside tescos is like a homeless shelter, you can tell we
have a tory government. If a homeless person asked me to buy
them a warm drink in the cold id consider it, usually the
are looking for some change to go into bargain booze or buy
spice or whatnot.

Being homeless is one thing. Pitching up your mattress,
sitting on your arse with your legs outstretched, outside
M&S, is another matter.

I tell you who bankroll these fucking chancers. Middle aged,
middle class women. It's always the fucking same, listen to
the well rehearsed sob story, hand over £20 which you can
easily afford, and then have a guiltless week being fucking
appalling and useless.

how'd you know they're high on spice, btw? this is coming
from a 30g a week smoker, when it was legal and regulated
not the even dodgier shit they have now

the totally catatonic state gives it away, don't get me
wrong I have a lot of sympathy for homeless people, its
naïve to think I couldn't end up in that situation myself
because of a quirk of fate.

seems 95% of the problem is down to inadequate mental health
facilities

Funny you could afford that but not housing.

the ones smoking the most spice are likely the ones with a
solid tolerance, it's only those who can barely afford to
smoke once a day that get smashed off it. it's not got the
worst withdrawal but it does come with a tolerance. anyway
the high only lasts an hour at most assuming it's similar to
what i was smoking, that couple of quid we can all afford
can be the difference between okish and miserable in
withdrawal with nothing to eat

it wasn't a case of affording it, there was simply nowhere
available. i spent 2 1/2 years in a homeless hostel checking
the listings every day

If they're not lying I usually give the first one change,
maybe the second too. If they're one of the liars I call
them out on it and tell them to try the routine on someone
else.

using it on drugs or anything. why would i. does the problem
get solved somehow by them having no money and having to
suck dick or rob people instead...dont really get it

i hate btw that i feel guilty when i give *and* when i don't
give

here they have the 'homeless paper': i do buy those from
them. it's a good initiative.

there mostly crazy ppl there cuz they got rid of the loony
bins cuz its inhumane to provide a persons basic needs when
theyre 2 messed in the head 2 do it themselves i guess
throwing ppl in2 the street is a more compassionate solution

i mean unless you think these ppl are just gonna say 'looks
like i cant get any drugs today - might as well go straight
now'
psychosis withdrawl + flashbacks of horrible things theyve
seen and done...
eating tinned peaches in abandoned stairwell under a blanket
seeing visions and vomiting...

id rather give over 50p no problem. hope he has a top day.

Be honest, give most of these people a home and after day
one they'd have "re-decorated" it with their own faeces,
sold all the furnishings for drugs and kicked their own
front door in because they also sold the key for drugs.

this guy is great, he was homeless and drug addicted for 20
years

LAZY_TITLE

we shouldn't forget that these are real people, some are
addicted, some have mental problems, some never had a real
family

of course when there is a system that helps people on the
street, some people use it for their benefit. that happens
with every system. and I generally think there is around 10%
of asshole everywhere, in every class

to put all homeless people in one pot is plain stupid. and
to just give money to people that "look" homeless is also
horrible, because it puts people to their place and makes
them play their role

i had to deal with the jobcenter in germany, its horrible.
so, i can understand even though people can get support, it
doesnt mean they are lazy parasites if they don't

the first vid i saw on there was that 21yo from cardiff,
talking about getting macdonalds shit from people and
nothing else, having no money for simple things like a
toothbrush, just walking and walking all day. i managed to
get in a hostel quite quick but he's been out for 3wk,
probably for the first time and just gets spat on in the
street, heartbreaking

i drive for uber a bunch and i see the beggars a lot. they
camp out at particular intersections. i always wondered --
do they fight over those spots? take shifts?

picking up citizens, the beggars come up in conversation, on
occasion. a few people in the know have marked a particular
apartment complex as where a bunch of them live with their
huge drug habit and from there they all crawl out and hit
the streets to get money for drugs.

personally, i see it as a nuisance. i have no hate for these
people. they're just part of the cityscape, really... the
waltz of avoiding eye contact or whatever is reliably
annoying, but whatever, let them hang out their and bum
change.

however, there's one guy who walks around with his little
dog on a leash trying to actively engage people in order to
more effectively bum change, and he is fucking obnoxious. he
can fuck off

then there are the half-back, half-latino tweens who try to
bum change for the fuck of it in between checking their
fones

all in all, i prefer the old black cat who hustles trying to
wash windows. at least he's offering a service. i am broke
as shit and i spend my change on food. i can't even afford a
drug habit

i agree drugs being an amplifier for mental problems, but
the equation sometimes is not drugs to poverty Dan, i never
heard about a cocaine addict that ended up on the street all
the time i hadnt a home, and also when i did

i know a cocaine addict who got a heavy psychosis and was on
the street for a while. then in a mental hospital. he was a
nice guy before all of that. in between he called some of my
friends threatening to kill them

im more inclined to believe a version where the guy callled
your friends to be helped, and went nuts because he was
answered no.

its a long story. he never had a problem with me, i wanted
to visit him in the mental hospital but he kinda escaped
from there and nobody knew where he was. he had a problem
with his close buddies, because they got kinda famous with
what they were doing, but the didn't. he never asked for
help and never talked about his problems. but, yeah. his
closer friends should have helped him more, thats true

im against the professional beggars as well, some romas have
more showy nikes than mine these days, but oppose the vision
of homelessness as a fault as well. kinda like throwing
stones at jesus christ while walking the golgotha.

Spice as depicted by BBC Wales. It’s like taking

i've yet to see a positive report on spice, which is pretty
bogus. people wouldn't take it if it wasn't pleasurable in
some way, and there's a whole slew of substances, strengths
and individual tolerances at play. mind you i wouldn't go
back to smoking it now, i turn into a bit of a drug pig if i
have them around

not read that article on spice, but i presume they don't
miss the part about it being basically entirely profit, for
the people who sell it. Buy the chemicals from china, mix it
in a cement mixer full of pot purri, sell it in wraps of
last weeks newspapers to homeless people for basically inf%
profit. Been going on for years, and the cops do little, and
the papers say fuck all. Why don't they have a little frenzy
about that stuff then?

Once again, the interesting thing is not that this goes on,

expect.

i don't know what it is but the beggars have been
particularly aggressive in the last few days. multiple dudes
actually waving and trying to get me to roll down the window
rather than just standing there politely with their signs.
it's right irritating when i'm trying to keep an eye on the
traffic lights
