the cuteness of this thing is unbeatable. friends of mine bought one recently and i hear its pretty nice on a flatscreen. real snes dont upscale well or look gritty on mine. so i took a crt from the streets and ended up building me a custom gaming station last summer, whan nes mini was all the rage. fit a new power cord to it, cause it was cut off^^ then i built a wooden box for it to fit in to get rid of that ugly plastic case and put a raspi into the back. the whole thing is a bit easier to handle than a wobbly rounded plastic case and i can put it aside or place things on it since it is box shaped. placed a cinch plug in the back so i can either hook in my jap or pal snes, or play emulation from the pi. was a really lovely project and it got me a bit into nes and sega games. i didnt know the sega sound was so slick :O i then found me some adlib tracker hunting after that sound, but that is another thing i probably wont ever take time to get into... anyways building some gaming stuff is a real nice project and theres tons of info on forums if you know jack shit about electricity like me and dont want to be eletrocuted or set the house on fire :) |

"super castlevania IV", which is already on the console, is a masterpiece. the art, the music, everything. back then i didn't have the game myself, so i always had to watch this neighbourhood kid playing it and i have a weird relation to crappy games like "incredible crash dummies", "michael jordan: chaos in the windy city", "alien 3", "boogerman", "zombies ate my neighbours", "plok!", a.s.o. which were games that i was having myself or playing in the mall that stuff will land on it, too |

Absolutely had to get one. For those that missed out and want one, contrary to the nes, they will continue producing the snes until 2018. Great to play Earthbound, and Mario RPG. |

When I managed to get an imported super famicom in 1991, I was the proudest boy in the world. From then on it was a love story I never quite achieved with a console again. Super mario world, a link to the past, super Metroid, super castlevania... I never had mega man x so that’s great. I had most of the others. What a great selection. So you can pirate them? Apparently even Nintendo knows and is sort of ok with it. Has to do with a message they left. |

wut? that tune was a decade ahead ^^ good to hear you can hack it and import emus. the game/system limitation of the nes classic was one of the main reasons to avoid it and build the pi station instead. well that and that i wanted a crt anyways. russel, i feel the same, the first touch was the sweetest! had a lot of love for pc games and some n64 games though. with all the sequels to beloved franchises the 3d versions hardly ever could live up to the initial impact the 2d games had. still glad nintendo puts out new mario games with every console. the workplace i do part time atm has a switch, so i played new mariokart. its fun especially since i play it on a tv as big as my living room back wall ^^ (no kidding they have a 3m flatscreen in that place) it makes you tilt and turn your head when you play... |

I don’t play with friends anymore. Haven’t in a very long time. Back in the days I guess it was fighters really, shooters, and racers. That was about was was available to me back then. So for the SNES it was f-zero, super mario kart, the street fighter 2 series, mortal kombat and nba jam, super parodius, contra 3. I enjoyed playing super Mario land with a neighbor, oh yeah the contra game |

emulation in general: 1. its a handy way to play any game without owning the console. 2. emulation most of the time looks better on flat screens 3. did i mention its free? 99% prefer the real deal but these benefits are huge snes mini: 1. its a bundle of games that look neat on modern tvs 2. many people buy it becaue its neat, legal and plug and play 3. other people enhance these benefits by hacking to unlimited game access |

The SNES mini is so worth it if your from that generation. Those 21 games would have amounted to a small fortune back then. Any kid’s dream. I still want to think like that. I’m not sure 200 more games for free would make me any happier. I’d be like that spoilt kid who had everything but was crap at everything because he never stuck at a game, too focused on what he could next get his greedy little hands on. Me and my brother had 5 games for a very long time and we were really happy. A new game was like Christmas, and often it was. Shit I’m that old cunt. |

yes, thats true. im quite good at playing super ghouls n ghosts, because that was the "new" game back then for a long time so i really got into it and finished it. nowadays i don't really have the time for that, i think |

oldschool games really need you to memorize a lot, takes time and patience. super ghouls n ghost being a rare jump n run example, due to its difficulty. still lots of those games are easy to access, its like the slogan: easy to pick up, hard to master and thats just great, cause often i feel i dont want to play a modern 3d movie, consisting of endless cutscenes with game passages in there that bare of any real challenge. |

I got around to completing link to the past a couple of years back under emulator, as when i was a kind i got stuck in the dark world and couldnt figure out how to progress, so i felt obliged to do it so i did, without a FAQ or anything like that. Havent played any other zelda games, my mate was showing me the new one, breath of the wild, very impressive, looks like a massive time sink |

I will eventually get a switch just for the Zelda. I’m in no rush though. A Link to the Past is a cracking game. I played it so much, and will soon play through it again on the mini. Lots of bits I’ve forgotten. |

its more fun to play these games together. platformers/jumpnruns/schmups/pointnclick i can play alone, but adventure rpgs are cooler together, i think i feel like i have some good rides now, that im excited to start but wait for the the right moment to do so, if u know what i mean. i just imagine a great weekend with a buddy, finishing 3 of those games |

agreed, going at it together is most fun. replaying mario world, yoshis island and banjo & kazooi with the gf was so much fun we still sings the melodies and make the sounds :) shes a maniac on banjo & kazooie, and upon finishing she restarts the game instantly. so i got her banjo tooie for xmas but i fear she may never play it. for some reason some folks only play the games they played as a kid. gotta admit i dont finish that many games i didnt finish as a a kid myself. |
