I am pro solitude providing i can come here and be with my
xltronic friends in a passive, non commital capacity. Is
that really solitude though? I dunno i aint a philosopher,
just shy.

Those who can’t be alone with themselves worry me.

Learn to love and appreciate being yourself, and be
empathetic towards others.

If we all did that, it’d be a much more evolved society i
think.

Very true, it says a lot about how they feel about
themselves and the thoughts that are in their head in
someone can't spend a single evening alone.

sorry, i tend to post a lot of videos which i find
problematic myself, because im quite overmediated. its a
quirk of my past, as tv and later internet were my only
window to the world while growing up in a working class
family, where both of my parents started working at the age
of 15 and were not there most of the time. and school in my
area was very bad. the first time i looked up to an older
person was in university where i met some professors that
actually had something to say and also were the first ones
that told me what was good for me. something my parents
could never do

so, my take:
i always enjoyed being with myself and now that i live alone
i feel like i can finally breathe and think. when i grew up
as the oldest of two siblings i tend to close myself in on
the toilet, because it was the only place where i could
relax in the house. i was actually imagining living there,
surviving on water and toothpaste… i love my family, but
i always liked solitude. when i moved out, i lived in wg's
(flat-sharing) because it was the cheapest way and also i
learned a lot through others. it was fun and im friendly to
others and stuff, but deep inside i always wanted to have my
own space.

i have some friends who can't stand being alone, which i
don't understand because for me its the best time. im not
awkward around others, but its not something that is in the
top ten on my list.

im an introvert and solitude for me means having the
opportunity to get the everyday noise off and finally think
for yourself. usually i need a whole day of doing nothing,
so on the second day i can finally get into something i find
interesting. i have a lot of little "games" or "tasks". for
example i have a "person of the week" in which im
researching everything i can find about that person and take
it apart. which goes from popstars to makers, everything.
last week it was tatsuya takahashi who left korg in the
beginning of 2017 to move to cologne. im never bored being
alone

a girl with the dog totally chatted me in today, but i think
we was sincere, i wouldnt say she was looking for something,
althought i was completely caught. very sincere and
feminine.

no one ever approaches me to chat, perhaps I look too
intense or withdrawn, its annoying as I'm quite friendly

you said in the other thread that you fancy other women, and
now you want to be approached, arent you engaged??

It’s never ceases to amaze me how fucked up people really
are, but ultimately I’m happier when I see the good in
people. I say hello to all my neighbours and people in the
neighbourhood. Having a dog has helped. I rem in 2004 I
would find it very awkward having to face the prospect of
casual conversation with random strangers because of my dog;
now it’s a part of my every day life (my dog is pretty
cute and has a huge personality). The more I talk with
strangers the more I really people really need to talk, and
miss human warmth.

I prefer casual, off the cuff conversation to predetermined
encounters, which terrify me. I've joined a book club and am
supposed to go to my first meeting on sunday but i think i'm
going to back out. it just seems horrible, especially with
the books they're suggesting going forward i know i'm going
to find it difficult to converse with them. however if
someone stopped me in waterstones and said 'what do you
recommend? do you like this?' i'd find it very easy and
probably go on a long, maybe interesting, spiel without
faltering. i guess it's having expectations placed on you i
dunno.

i always say high to my neighbours and the gardener for our
block of flats, there's barely any conversation though.
there's like 300 odd people and the only way they interact
more than a few words is the stupid facebook group full of
posts moaning about finding a tissue in the car park or
being very nosey about people.

friendly way like people chat to me

good post, thanks for sharing. "good" as in I think and feel
similar about the subject. makes me want to go out of my
'wolf cave' to write ~500 characters and share my experience
[I hope it will help anyone]:

I've been living on my own for a year now. Learnt quite a
bit about myself during the time: how my mind and my system
reacts to different amounts of sleep, food, tiredness,
alcohol. How permanent lack of sleep can alter my mind, e.g.
suicidal thoughts after 2 weeks of nightshifts at work.

I always think of myself as a loner and an independent,
self-conscious being. But it's different when you share a
flat with your spouse - even when you live in separate
rooms, but you always know/feel there's someone behind the
room wall and you can have a chat if/when you want.

Some obvious things get less obvious when you really truly
experience them, without lying to yourself. Solitude is one
of them for sure. And being able to live alone and feel good
with yourself while being alone is a bliss. And to control
your emotions and not give in to feelings like "loneliness".

And yes, living alone for a while - or at least spending
some time with only yourself - 1-3 days - usually makes you
stronger inside. You can call it meditation, contemplation,
whatever. Any occasion to take some time just for yourself,
for your mind, away from society = profit.

I'm almost 41 now btw. And I really hope I will be able to
think the same in 5 or 10 years time. Whether a new female
will be able to "change my world" or not.

TL;DR: being with someone is good, but living alone
is not any worse - whether you're a loner or not

good day to y'all

peace

yeah that's true, we all need someone, life without people
is like looking down the centre of an empty toilet roll
without others
