Curious... whats with this trend in people using youtube to
post music? I understand these three have imagery to go with
it, so its a bit more reasonable. But I am seeing more and
more people making a youtube video with a monotone screen
and the song title. Is it just so they can get their friends
to respond to it?

well i moved over to using youtube for posting my songs
because i used to use myspace and now i absolutely despise
myspace (it turned into a commercial and spam trash can). i
do enjoy getting comments on the songs too. i think using
youtube makes it easier for me to spread it around and get
people to listen to it. it's also easier to embed the songs
in forums and social networking sites like facebook. so
maybe that why it's more popular to use youtube now.

i personally also enjoy making the videos for the songs.

Those sound like fairly good reasons.

Might I suggest an alternative; Soundcloud

Its simple... no animated shouts or anything else bloaty...
it allows you to embed songs directly into certain
message-board postings and blogs and such. Its integrated
with twitter and a few other social networking tools.

Main drawback is the limited account only allows 5 uploads a
month. Still, thats more than enough for most bedroom
producers....
