Profile of the Sociopath

This website summarizes some of the common features of
descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.

* Glibness and Superficial Charm

* Manipulative and Conning
They never recognize the rights of others and see
their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to
be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering,
seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They
may dominate and humiliate their victims.

* Grandiose Sense of Self
Feels entitled to certain things as "their right."

* Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is
almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent
basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief
about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing
and even able to pass lie detector tests.

* Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed,
is at their core. Does not see others around them as people,
but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends,
they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The
end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in
their way.

* Shallow Emotions
When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and
compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an
ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet
remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal
person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their
promises.

* Incapacity for Love

* Need for Stimulation
Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical
punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are
common.

* Callousness/Lack of Empathy
Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims,
having only contempt for others' feelings of distress and
readily taking advantage of them.

* Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of
love and approval p

i 100 percent agree with Barcode about everyone being
sociopaths. i mean we are all bits of everything at times,
sometimes people are in love, sometimes they hate. we are
born like this and society plays a role in this, its not
entirely one persons responsibilty for some things they do.
we are born like this.

Barcode i think i'm glad to have read some of your posts on
certain philosophies, but at the same time it depresses me
when i feel certain feelings like maybe what i think love
is, but then i remember things you have posted here and
there and it seems to not matter at all in reality.

True. If you watch, very rarely does anybody listen or act
on anything anyone says within the philosophical realm.

If I say something you think is truthful and makes you feel
uncomfortable about yourself, you will deliberately put it
to the back of your mind and forget about it, and in a few
days you will be back to your old self - thinking about the
things that comfort you and make you feel secure.

That's why people are so easily controlled by religions - it
offers them a level of comfort and security, whereas things
that are difficult to accept in life, like the reality of
death or love/altruism (if they even exist) etc. are hard to
accept, so commenting on the subject is practically
worthless and I only do it for the sake of entertainment or
to reassert my own perspective.

but there are things people can know they want for
themselves even if those things are false as you say, for
instance, having children with someone you care about enough
to marry, is something which can be fulfilling and enriching
as being multilingual or living near a beautiful beach
everyday.

You're only fortifying what I wrote. People seek pleasure
and avoid pain, and therefore do what they want and
disregard anything that might upset the safe, happy,
hallucinatory world that thought creates.

If you point out something truthful or perceptive that
fractures their serenity they refuse to look at it, even if
it would benefit them pschologically.

I'm not saying it's write or wrong, just a fact.

i dont see how i am denying anythin in my last post, i was
ephasizing how personal importance works for some people,
maybe not for you, but for some people, things are worth
investing time into instead of just settling for the plain
nature of the world we live in. for instance you say
hallucinatory, i say additive.

Yeah, Barcode you've pretty much got it all down pat, the
only thing is, it's so BORING to live in this world/time
where there are THINGS which people can DO and EXCEL at,
WORK toward. I want to be humble because i know some people
don't have the opportunities as i do, some people don't have
decent enough lives because of their families, birth
defects, whatever it is that makes me appreciate what i
appreciate so very much sometimes....though, everyone's got
their own set of situational conflicts and personal
problems. Life is a struggle.

Haha, you're a scared little child. The fact that you think
everyone in the world is a sociopath just goes to show how
lonely and sheltered you really are. You're a broken record,
and not a particularly interesting one.
