stupid topic name but i cannot put it in words.

anyways, on another music forum i'm active there is a topic
right now and one of the users is claiming that the piano
tracks on drukqs are actually pressed from mp3 which you can
check in any sound analyzer.

actually, until now i was quite sure that this happened with
chosen lords which rdj even admitted in some interview.

does anybody know which story is correct ? eventually drop a
link to a apropriate source/interview.

meh, transcodes are hard to spot, it's not exact science

I'm going to go ahead and say that the piano tracks on
druqks aren't mp3 for the sole reason that the die hard
Aphexio would have seen it by now - what with looking at
spectrographs all day instead of listening to the music.

Though, as everyone has said some tracks from 26 Mixes are actually
sourced from mp3. Probably a scurry to slsk after spilling
Sunny D over the masters!

that's one of the topics i had in mind. so it was 26 remixes
then.

i guess i jsut go to my other forum and tell the guy how
retarded he is. jsut in case.

Ok, so I'm a bit windy between the ears when it comes to
sound production theory but wouldn't encoding sound to mp3
be the same thing as running sound through a compressor?
Just wondering....

No, a compressor in audio terms is a dynamic/volume
modifier. Encoding to mp3 is compression in data terms.

you should read the link to the 26 mp3's for cash topic
above and look at the screens from the audio analyzers.

No.
compresser changes loudness dynamic, i.e. quiet things
louder, loud things quieter, that sort of thing.

MP3 compression removes some frequencies, tries to giggle
the sounds around and generally dicks around with the audio.

Think of MP3 like a JPEG image, infact heres one from
wikipedia. LAZY_TITLE

as a matter of fact avril 14th has this weird horizontal
line at around 15hz, and the high frequencies from 15 to 22
hz looks like they could've been slapped on after mastering
an mp3.

but there's no way of knowing for sure. maybe the digital
effects on the piano tunes made the spectrals look weird?
that's my guess.
