Ode to Spot

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature;
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate
affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
You would not be so agile if you lacked its
counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,
It often serves to illustrate the state of your
emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not
comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

They don't shit everywhere. They're 1 trillion times easier
to potty train than dogs, FACT.

All of my adult life I was a committed 'dog' person.Myself
and the ex used to keep and breed Staffs and we had taken a
couple of mistreated pitbulls and one huge bull mastiff.Ive
never been really sentimental about animals,I think its
because I used to work on a farm, never cruel for crueltys
sake but Im not the type to dress a dog up in a little coat
with a diamante stud collar. When the last two of my dogs
were gone, one of them being thirteen, the other seven(the
second was stolen) I swore Id never get another pet.Ive
never liked cats,as far back as I could remember,I thought
they were arrogant creatures and kittens to me were just a
ridiculous waste of space. Then last year someone gave me
this ten week old kitten,I think I only took it because they
were so keen to get rid and I thought maybe Id be able to
con someone else into having it.
Well I ended up with a slightly stupid, rather clumsy
Sumi.He's a lovely companion,always pleased to see me,mews
back when I call him a retard and is one of the best
companions Ive ever had.
Also Ive managed to train him to fetch small balls when
theyre thrown and 'box' my hand while hes stood on his two
back legs.I never thought Id think it let alone commit it to
type, but I love that cat,and Im really glad I took him in.

I recon people who are first find cats, or other animal
ofensive, later tend to be friendly with them.

I like cats and dogs with character. Some of those animals I
think are unintresting, becouse their owners not even try to
do something about animal lazynes. For instance those fat
cats, some of them are afraid of mouse and cant even run
fast enough.

I like cats, they are very selfish animals but they are not
stupid.

I like them well cooked with rosemary and carrots.

i've never been been particularly fond of cats, have always
admired thier athletic ability but thought they were orrible
creatures to have round, i kinda still stand by this, but
ive started to like my mates cat, bit, except for when it
gave me a high five and cut my finger
