so this morning I wake up and feel like recording some sort
of dj set.

I plug the sampler (roland sp808.. ancient bit of kit) into
channel 3 of mixxah, and nothing comes out.. unless I whack
the gain etc to max. all hooked up correctly and the samples
have been recorded loud enough.

Is sampler fucked? sounds fine on the headphone out

im thinking ive pressed some sort of dodgy jap button :/

have you checked the ch3 input against anything else? sure
it's not the mixer?

perhaps waggle the phono/aux selector (if you've got one)?

I think waking up and thinking "Yawwwn... oh I'll do a DJ
set" rather than "Yawwwnnnn... I need a piss" is wrong.

Well duh, try the other mixer channels, SP outputs, cables,
etc.
Twiddle all knobs and press all buttons.
ask on the sp-forums.com 808 board.

Does it use phono sockets? My SP303 does.
I would image they are soldered to the PCB and the joints
have broken due to wobbling the connector.
If you're handy with a soldering iron, it might be worth
resoldering them.
