noise isnt universally liked by people who like weird underground music
i find that the ones who hate it the most are the biggest autechre fans from the usa who make lots of autechre copy tracks themselves in the usa
noise! sound playing at all frequencies with random dynamics
noise! random fluctuations in an electrical signal idm is a fake genre that should be ignored damn autechre fans in usa wrecking everything we make electronic music noise is an area of electronics explore electronics in music!!!!!
ktpa is a shit track is it? no it's quite a funny experiment in signal feedback and processed noise actually!! and i like that because i like listening to the music made by people who explore electronics
you can do this kind of thing on your mixer using the effect send to loop a channel, the feedback of the signal on top of itself causes "positive feedback" where a tiny noise signal is amplified and then turns into an oscillation at a particular frequency. then you can use the EQ to colour the sound and frequency. bet a lot of you never knew you could use your mixer to make weird sounds!! :-D and then try adding some of these random noises in the back of an acid track!!!

do you realize that folk music is anything that is played and enjoyed by the common class?

this has nothing to do with ego. this has to do with the fact that you called the basis for most music that's produced today in the non-commercial sector as marginal.
can folk be boring? yes. is it overplayed? yes. would i be fine if i never heard any more folk music in my life? probably.
but calling it marginal is just fucking silly.
i don't have an ego (okay, i do) but i just can't stand when people mouth off on shit that they have no clue about.

i get what he means. your being really stinky, you know.
Norman Blake and Rising Fawn String Ensemble is quite nice folk music. Some of those songs are quite old and I guess they originate from people living in poor marginalised communities. I don't know, really.
Folk definitely fits the criteria.

I think the problem isn't calling Folk marginal, but rather trying to rank the overall importance of different music genres in general. What's the point of that? Most every type of music is important to someone, right? A particular genre isn't marginal even when a lot of people dislike it. It's just that a large number of people find that genre personally unimportant. Given that music appreciation is mostly subjective, it's impossible to determine the relative importance of a genre when the conclusion relies so heavily on opinion.
