one of my monitors makes what i can only decribe as a plasticy vibration type noise, like as if a a strip of medication in one of those push thru bubble packs was on top of it. It only happens when its cranked up a bit and playin tunes with big long bass lines. It sounds as if its coming from the housing, not the speaker actually playing the noise. Any one any ideas on what it mite be befor i go through the hassle of returning it?
cheers.

My old desktop developed a problem like that soon after I got it.It turned out to be a warning sticker that was holding about three wires together had come loose after getting hot then losing its stick. It landed on something else inside and nestled there, vibrating everytime a certain note was struck. The noise nearly drove me insane and I started to use earphones so I couldnt hear it any more.Took me a while to track it down too.
Maybe its something as silly as a tag? Im assuming youve checked all the screws/security fasteners?

yeah checked all screws and took amp offa back and had a butchers inside, i was half cut and feeling clumsy and decided i was more likely to really screw summit up if i poked around too much, but now you suggest that i'll get it apart and check for stickers/labels. cheers Atwood.

sounds like something is loose, if it has warranty send it back and get it repaired, don't tamper with it because you could void your warranty

Probably too obvious, but worth saying in case; try swapping the speakers over.
Perhaps nearby objects or something are resonating? Swapping speakers should cause the resonance to move with the duff speaker unless it isn't the speaker itself. i.e. physically swap their positions.
Also try swapping the amp outputs over in case one of amp channels is pre-distorting the signal making it appear to be a mechanical fault with the speaker, rather than an electrical fault with the amp. If it is the speaker, swapping wires over shouldn't cause the fault to jump from one to the other.

Do what larn said. If its under warranty the act of going inside and screwing with it is going to void it. You should only bother to fix it yourself if the warranty has expired. That goes for anything that is mid-high end.
