can't understand a top 3 lagers list, its not as if theyre particularly different big love for the beers here, Timmy Taylor Landlord, Deuchars IPA, Roosters Yankee, anything by Sharps (cornwall brewery), Hawksheads brewery, old speckled hen, bombardier, Everards Tiger, Thwaites Wainwright. etc. Proper beer, amazing stuff to drink. word. you ever sup on any of the badger ales? big ups to their 'golden glory' on a summers day. also check out 'scapa special' by the highland brewing company ltd. 'three sisters' by Atlas also 'northern light' by The Orkney Brewery. they mite be hard to find south of scotland but my god there all well worth it. |

not warm, but not chilled. its a delicate balance and depends on the ale too. but somewhere between 10oc to 15oc is usually about right. |

i've not tried any badger beers but i have heard good things about them. i cud prolly get some from the supermarket, but its not the same as having it cask. the only other scottish beer that springs to mind is harviestoun bitter and twisted, which is fantastic in bottle or from the cask. bitter is served at 10-15 C because if its too cold you wont get the flavours coming through. Lager is served at 5c because it makes fuck all difference to it really. the major difference between lager and beer is the malts / hops used. the brewing process for lager is complicated and requires very high tech equipment. the reason for this is that for something like stella the brewer is turning agriculutural grade malts / hops into something drinkable, or just simply fit for human consumption. by contrast the brewing process for beer is very simple - hence why people can make their own and why there are so many micro breweries. to make good beer though you have to use the best malts and hops available, which have been cultivated and improved over a very long period of time. the process is very simple, and by using the finest ingredients available you get a really fantastic drink. forget beers of the world, britain truly does the best beers in the world. most british people dont even realise. |

aii bitter and twisted is a good un... ahh theres just too many good brews. TBH the only badger that ive had cask is fusty ferret, which is good also. where bouts you from stoz? most of any of the beers by hook norton brewery are good based in oxfordshire, and Otter brewery daan in devon produce some quality shit too. |

near wrexham, north wales. i work in a pub we have about 10 different beers on at a time so i get to try loads of stuff. there is loads of quality beers knocking about, too many to list. any decent golden / pale / best bitter will make me a very happy man. Purple moose brewery (snowdonia) so some amazing beers. Beartown is good aaah the list is endless. Not tried hook norton. Although we get a really good range coming through there are still some beers that we just can't get hold of or are just too expensive. Its a brilliant time for beers, the pub i work at is still really busy all the time (lots of talk about how many pubs are closing, but decent pubs shud be fine). A guy i know started making beers out of his parents garage and the stuff is fantastic. he's now running his own pub and he can't brew enough of his own stuff to keep it with demand in his pub, let alone supply us anymore. |

yeah man totally agree, i was workin in a pub ont side of lochness, and as well as a rippin tourist trade there were plenty of locals comin in. Our prices were right, beers good and foods spot on. £2.70 for a pint of decent ale is awsome, especially when tennents pish lager is 2.80ish a pint rnd the town. we only had a tiny bar with 3 pumps for ales but used to keep a light ale and a dark on at all times and the other pump would float. whats the name of the pub your at in wrexham, used to live near mold for a year or so. know a cpl places in wrexham. |

stella's pretty horrible. Turns people into train wrecks and gives you a serious chemical hangover, the 'wifebeater' tag is for a reason. this is my top I wear the green suit too. |

You'll probably know us then. I work at the Pant yr Ochain in Gresford, which is part of the same pub group as the Glasfryn, Mold. Not the cheapest pubs, admittedly, but the bitter in ours is cheaper than stella etc. Incidentally the last time I was in Scotland you could get Sharps bitters by the bottle in Tescos in Inverness. Not sure if that's anywhere near you (I do know Scotland is massive) but maybe all the Tescos up there have it. Thing in the paper today about how there's more small breweries now in Britain than anytime since WW2, its a good time for them and CAMRA (even if CAMRA are a hairy bunch of sandal-wearing guardian-reading beer nerdlings.) |

If you are a fan of really hoppy beer I suggest anything by Stone...ruination and arrogant bastard are pretty good. However I think my favorite beer of all time is tied between Chimay Blue and Maredsou tripple...absolutely wonderful beer |

Stella makes me produce excrement that's the colour of red setters, and makes a complete mess of my digestive system. I recommend the 'helmet visor'. 2/3 pint of Stella topped up with Blue Wicked. Tastes like sweeties, makes for a good night, but probably not the sweetest of mornings. |
