I've recently fallen back into a deep, twisted, NSFW love
with Autoditacker.

The synths are so rubbery and juicy, the drums so crisp, the
production so perfect. I've never been able to name my
favorite album by Mouse on Mars, but this could very well be
it.

definitely my favorite by them. its got a vibe that captures
the time perfectly i think.

My favorite track on the album, now hold on, hold
on
, at the moment is Tux & Damask. This is likely
subject to change as I love them all.

I really like Niun Niggung, too. For me, that is another
very interesting album. But I think Autoditacker might just
be the essential album by Mouse on Mars. I've heard a good
portion of their discography too: Glam, Vulvaland, Iaora
Tahiti, Actionist Respoke, Idiology, Rost Pocks EP
collection, and possibly another I might be forgetting. I'd
love to get my hands on every release by them, simply from a
collector's standpoint, but it would be nice to hear what
I've been missing.

And there I go narrowly avoiding breaking the rules of the
thread by almost discussing other works by them.

ye, i too would love to own the entire mouse on mars
catalogue. 'glam' is probably my favourite. little subtle
sounds and sweet ambience.

i agree, its their "if you only hear one album by them"
album

was going to post a bit on how I like Glam as well,
especially Glim. I guess we might as well discuss whatever
we want here, as long as it's mainly related to Mouse on
Mars. On the subject of Glam, Port Dusk is a nice track, as
well.

In my opinion, Mouse on Mars produced some of the best
electronic music of the 90s on Autoditacker and Iaora
Tahiti.

I can't quite describe the music. No-one has ever made
squiggles and pops sound so organic.

"No-one has ever made squiggles and pops sound so organic."

yeah, that's what I was attempting to say but you hit the
nail on the head. I'm listening to Iaora Tahiti right now
just because I haven't listened to that in a long time,
either.

The trademarked squeeky sounds always give them away;
possible the funnest "idm" music there is. Iaora is my
favorite, but not always. More textures and moods w/ same
consistent quality = great!!

Varchaz is really good, then? I've been meaning to check
that out but haven't heard much buzz around it. Will have to
look into that.

its pretty solid throughout

the part where the "wood blocks" melody comes in around 2:00
is so good, I get it stuck in my head for days. It's the
good kind of catchy.

i've been trying to find the Viva Zwei Wah Wah Mouse On Mars
(uber funny) Special from their Japan tour/visit, but in
vein. I have it recorded on vhs (2 tapes, 2 versions, SP and
LP, actually) and i'm going to upload it in the next few
years time.

but if the documentary is already up there and anyone knows
where it is, please tell

this album has aged really well compared to a lot of other
releases dating from ~96ish. classic!

YES!

been in a mouse on mars phase the last week.

iaora tahiti + autoditacker + instrumentals = some of the
coolest electronic sounds i've ever heard.
